Professional dancer Amy Dowden has shared an update from her monthly oncology appointment this week. It comes amid the Strictly Come Dancing star, who has been paired with Thomas Skinner this year, urged fans to “be kind”.

Following the BBC show’s first live show of the new series on the weekend, Amy revealed this morning that she was at her latest appointment. She shared a message on Instagram over a selfie of herself at a hospital in Birmingham.

Amy wrote in the post today: “It’s that time again. Monthly [crutch emoji] on the oncology unit then straight back for training. Week 2 and I can’t wait.” She added: “Monday reminders, grateful, happy, alive and always be kind.”

The update comes just a day after she had already called on her followers to “choose to be kind, always”. The messages come amid her partnership with former the Apprentice star Thomas, 34, who has proved to be a controversial signing for Strictly.

Amy’s post yesterday included a clip from her documentary Strictly Amy: Cancer and Me, released last year. It showed her addressing criticism on social media following her diagnosis, with her sharing that she had been accused of being an “attention seeker” and “narcissist” by some trolls.

Alongside the footage, Amy wrote in the post this week: “As we step into a new week, let’s choose to be kind, always. (clip from my BBC documentary). I was raised to treat others the way I’d want to be treated, and to never judge a book by its cover.

“We never really know what someone else is going through. But what I do know is how upsetting it can be to be on the receiving end of negative comments.”

    Strictly fallout in full

She added: “I’m using my platform to hopefully help spread the right messages. Words matter! Online and offline. A cruel comment might take seconds to type, but its impact can last much longer.

“I remember a coach once telling me, it’s like a nail hammered into wood, even if you remove it, the mark will always be there.

“There are so many young people online today please be the kind of role models they need. Let’s be the reason someone smiles, not struggles. Also I can’t believe it’s two years exact today I was sat in the hospital bed showing these messages to my lovely nurse. Welsh love always #bekind.”

Amy’s post was met with support on the platform this week, with fellow pros Carlos Gu and Dianne Buswell, as well as Strictly judge Motsi Mabuse, among those who have liked it. Thomas replied to the post: “You are an amazing person.”

Fans also expressed their support in the comments section after Amy shared the post that included the clip from her documentary. One wrote to her: “You have helped so many people sharing your story. I think you are amazing.”

Courtroom Chaos: Keith Urban and Nicole Kidman’s Billion-Dollar Divorce After 19 Years of Marriage!”

Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban are said to have split after almost two decades of marriage and they have been living apart “since the beginning of summer”

    Keith Urban and Nicole Kidman

Keith Urban and Nicole Kidman are believed to have split this summer

Actress Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban have split after nearly two decades of marriage, according to reports. The Hollywood couple built their lives together and were long looked at as one of the most loving partnerships in Hollywood.

cole, 58, and Keith, 57, wed in 2006 and share two daughters, who are now 17 and 14. They both both regularly championed each other at career highlights and public appearances.

However, in a shock move multiple sources with direct knowledge have claimed the pair have been living separately “since the beginning of summer.”

One source revealed to TMZ: “Keith has acquired his own residence in Nashville and has moved out of their family home,” which is also in Nashville. Whether the duo will officially divorce remains “to be determined,” reports the Mirror US.

Despite her personal upheaval, Nicole’s professional accomplishments and financial prosperity continue to position her amongst Hollywood’s A-list. As of 2025, she boasts a very impressive estimated net worth of $250 million.

This figure reflects decades of blockbuster Hollywood performances, executive producer roles, and shrewd investments that have maintained her wealth for over 30 years.

Keith, meanwhile, has an estimated net worth of $75 million thanks to his successful career in country music, as well as TV work including American Idol and The Voice

In June, Nicole and Keith put on a very united front as they celebrated her birthday. The country singer took time out of his High and Alive world tour to treat his wife and the mother of his two kids.

He halted his tour to take Nicole to a soccer match at Geodis Park Stadium in Nashville, watching the World Club Cup Group D match between Los Angeles FC and Esperance Sportive de Tunis.

The pair appeared to be in full spirits as they enjoyed their time together. Earlier in the day, Nicole shared with fans that she had received a bouquet of flowers from her man.

She captioned the post of the flower delivery: “Feeling the love today. Thank you, thank you, thank you!,” while Keith added: “HAPPY HAPPY BIRTHDAY BABYGIRL.”

In March, Nicole revealed she was going to take a break from acting, having filmed six projects in just one year. The Oscar winner starred in A Family Affair, Spellbound and Babygirl, along with TV series The Perfect Couple, Expats and Lioness season two.

In 2024 alone, this accumulates to six different acting projects, not including her second series of show Nine Perfect Strangers and the promotion of her upcoming film Holland.

She told the Hollywood Reporter that: “[This year is] actually not as crazy. I was much more out there last year,” sharing that after filming the next series of Nine Perfect Strangers, she’s “off for the rest of year”.

BREAKING: BBC Breakfast meteorologist Matt Taylor PAUSES broadcast to give URGENT weather update as UK ISSUES WARNING

    Matt Taylor

Matt Taylor issued a warning to BBC Breakfast viewers about the potentially disruptive weather expected in the coming days. The meteorologist, 49, joined presenters Jon Kay and Sally Nugent to deliver the forecast updates on Tuesday (September 30).

He warned Brits that parts of the UK could be battered later this week by a former category five hurricane currently located in the western Atlantic.

Matt explained: “This is hurricane Humberto. It was a category five – the strongest category of hurricanes. It has now weakened to a category three.”

Although the hurricane is expected to weaken further, Matt explained it could regain strength as it moves across the Atlantic towards the UK.

The presenter said: “It could re-strengthen again as quite a deep and potent area of low pressure, with heavy rain sweeping the country and some potentially disruptive winds.”

As we head into the weekend, the greatest risk of disruption is expected to impact the northern half of the UK. Matt added: “But if that low pressure shifts a bit further southwards, we will of course shift that risk of disruption further south too.

“So certainly worth keeping a close eye on the forecast as we go through the next few days.” Before this arrives on Friday, Matt warned that the UK could experience “very wet and windy” conditions.

He went on: “Maybe stormy later this week, slightly quieter for the time being, but we still see a bit of a north-south split in the weather. Southern areas always dryer and brighter, threats of something wetter and windier the further north you are.”

It comes after Brits living in eight areas across the country were urged to prepare emergency kits as the Met Office warned of power cuts and flooding in several parts of the UK.

The National Weather Agency issued a 37-hour yellow warning starting from Wednesday to Friday. The yellow alert covering large parts of Scotland will be in effect from 5pm on Wednesday until 6am on Friday.

Persistent heavy rain during this period may cause transport disruptions and flooding. According to the Met Office, severe flooding can have widespread and dangerous impacts on communities. In the affected areas, rising water levels may cut off roads, making travel difficult or impossible and leading to closures.

SH0CKING STATEMENT:  Eamonn Holmes makes Brutal TEN-WORD Marriage dig after Ruth Langsford SPLIT

Eamonn Holmes and Ellie Costello presenting GB News

GB News breakfast presenter Eamonn Holmes made a cutting ten-word remark about marriage when discussing Nicole Kidman’s split from country singer husband Keith Urban. Eamonn, 65 and his co-presenter Ellie Costello, 31, were reporting on the break up when Ellie commented she thought it was very sad: “I think that’s very sad. They’ve got two children together…”

However Eamonn, whose marriage to Loose Women star Ruth Langsford broke down in May 2024, cut across her saying: “None of us know (what went on). The two of them could have despised each other and absolutely wanted to walk away from each other and we think it’s awful…We don’t know!” Undetered Ellie, who only got married in April this year, chimed in: “Well I think it’s sad when any marriage ends.” Eamonn then snapped back with a brutal response telling her: “That’s because you’ve just started (your marriage). You haven’t got to the bitter and twisted part yet!” he exclaimed.

    Close up of Eamonn Holmes

Eamonn’s remarks were prompted in the aftermath of Oscar-winning Hollywood star Nicole, 58, and 57-year-old country music singer Keith’s separation after almost two decades together

They tied the knot in June 2006 and share two daughters – Sunday Rose, 17, and Faith Margaret, 14. Sources close to the couple told PEOPLE the split has been devastating for Nicole, who reportedly fought hard to keep the marriage alive.

Reports first surfaced via TMZ, which revealed the pair had been living apart since the beginning of the summer. According to the outlet, Keith has moved into his own residence in Nashville, away from the family home.

Eamonn’s second marriage to Ruth Langsford broke down in 2024. The couple, who had worked together on ITV’s This Morning, surprised fans by announcing their split in May that year after 14 years married and 27 years together.

It was subsequently reported the 65-year-old Loose Women star discovered Eamonn was “sharing intimate chats with another woman” before finding incriminating messages on his laptop.

“Eamonn thought he was in the house alone while he was chatting on the phone. But Ruth could hear him from elsewhere in the house and was totally horrified. She confronted Eamonn.

“It was quite a shock — for both of them. Eamonn had no idea Ruth was in the house at the time. It was a huge blow to Ruth… to discover he was sharing intimate chats with another woman was a real kick in the teeth for Ruth,” a source told The Sun.

Eamonn has since moved on with new girlfriend, relationship therapist Katie Alexander who is 22 years is junior.

Big Brother OFFICIALLY RETURNS: Big Brother line-up with new cast including Nigel Farage ‘MILKSHAKE GIRL’

Cameron K, Emily, Zelah, Nancy, Teja, Tate, Sam, Jenny, Gani, Elsa, Marcus and Caroline.

Big Brother returned to ITV this evening as 12 new housemates entered into through the iconic abode for the first time, ready to live in close quarters for the next seven weeks. While the social experiment usually sees a variety of people from different age ranges, backgrounds, ethnicities and genders, this year’s cohort are a noticably young bunch.

In fact, only two of the housemates are not in their twenties, with the rest of the group ranging from 18 to 27; Pizza Shop Manager Gani, 39, and PR company owner Caroline, 56, are the exception. The latter decided to go on the show after struggling to know which direction to take her career in, and says she’d like a pair of new patio doors if she won the show’s prize pot, which is often £100,000.

    Big Brother 2025 Marcus

While Gani is hoping for both fame and fortune, as he says: “I’d like to be known by millions. I see this as an opportunity not only for my personal growth, but also to help build the future of my personal brand.” He might get some tips from his fellow housemates, as one is already known online as an influencer and content creator.

21-year-old Elsa Rae is known for being an influencer and has already amassed over 120,000 followers on TikTok and is known for her relationship with social media personality Ed Matthews.

From Jojo Siwa and Chris Hughes to Jordan Sangha and Henry Southan, Big Brother has produced plenty of in-house romances over the years.

    Nancy big brother 2025

And with hosts AJ Odudu and Will Best recently admitting they get invested in the show’s relationships, this series could be one to rival Love Island with it’s young and beautiful cast.

Alongside Essex girl Elsa, 18-year-old Teja was another one to enter the Big Brother house during the live launch show, and is this year’s youngest contestant this year. With a goal of winning the show and buying her own house, Teja says she might have some crossed words in the house.

    Jenny big brother 2025

“I think I’m alright to live with, but I can be a bit loud. I do also say what’s on my mind. If I have a problem I will say. Sopeople might take that the wrong way and see it as me being rude. But I do like to just get things off my chest; people might not like the directness of it,” says Teja, who describes herself as “loud”.

Farmer Cameron and Mechanical Engineer Marcus are both 22, but couldn’t be more different. The former is hoping his genuine charm will win the house over and says he’s looking forward to “a new experience”, while Marcus has been advised to “play the game”.

27-year-old Zumba Instructor Sam is hoping to bring energy to the house with plenty of early morning workout classes, and says: “I’m looking forward to making new friends, hopefully learning some new life skills and seeing what things come out of this experience.”

    Elsa Rae Big Brother

Political Events Manager Emily, 25, is hoping her unassuming exterior will help her play the game in the house, and perhaps fool her counterparts. “I haven’t really thought about a strategy, although I do think people look at me and think I’m very ditzy because I’ve got blonde hair and fake nails.

“So,I think that could definitely play to my advantage, because they better watch out! I’m actually a lot cleverer,” she says. Emily shot to fame when she was falsely accused of flinging a milkshake at Nigel Farage.

    Gani Big Brother 2025

Jenny, 20, from Derry says she wants to provide the house with “plenty of craic”, something she’ll no doubt bond with 22-year-old Glasweigen Nancy over. Tate, 27, is this year’s second Scottish housemate, and says his experience as a “buff butler” means he will be entertaining, with plenty of other skills up his sleeve.

    Caroline Big Brother 2025

Personal Trainer Tate, 27, is just looking to make “one good friend” in the house, and says he doesn’t mind about anything else. “I can be quite opinionated but I’d like to think that wouldn’t necessarily be a reason to nominate me.

“My strategy for those situations is to talk it out. I think also maybe food (or lack of) might beanother reason for me being nominated. I can get very hangry. That might get to people,” said the South London native.

“ROYAL RIFT EXPLODES: IS CAMILLA QUIETLY AT WAR WITH KATE?”

Royal Rift Explodes: Camilla vs. Princess Kate – Jealousy, Power, and a Silent Feud

New royal rift? Kate Middleton 'irritated' with King Charles' wife Camilla as… | World News - Hindustan Times

The royal family has been shaken by whispers of a feud that refuses to die down: Queen Camilla is said to secretly resent Princess Kate — and palace insiders claim the tension is reaching boiling point.

Despite the carefully choreographed smiles at official events, sources insist that Camilla and Kate’s relationship is far from warm. “Camilla is prickly by nature,” one aide revealed. “She hates the narrative that William and Kate can do no wrong. Every time Kate is praised, Camilla feels diminished. It’s a sore spot she can’t hide.”

    Camilla’s Quiet Disdain

Royal Source Reveals Reason for Queen Camilla and Kate Middleton's Shockingly “Tense Relationship”

Camilla, now firmly installed as Queen beside Charles, has long been aware of Kate’s soaring popularity. Royal watchers say this dynamic fuels her discontent. “The public adores Kate, sees her as the perfect future Queen. For Camilla, who had to fight for acceptance, it’s a bitter pill to swallow,” an insider explained.

One palace source even claimed Camilla once let her frustration slip during a private chat:

“It’s all very well being the nation’s darling when you’ve never truly had to fight for your place,” she allegedly remarked — a thinly veiled jab at Kate that, according to insiders, revealed the Queen’s lingering bitterness.

During recent joint appearances, eagle-eyed fans noticed Camilla’s body language. At a state banquet earlier this year, cameras caught what has since been dubbed “the icy glance” — a fleeting look at Kate that many interpreted as frosty disapproval. The clip went viral, sparking heated online debate.

    Palace Intrigue and Power Struggles

Behind the scenes, Camilla is said to guard her territory fiercely. “She doesn’t like being overshadowed — and with Kate, it happens constantly,” said one royal commentator. “Camilla has worked tirelessly to be accepted, yet Kate walks into a room and the public hangs on her every move. It stings.”

The source added: “Camilla is Queen now, but she sometimes feels as though Kate is already stealing the spotlight reserved for her.”

    Kate’s Silent Response

Those close to the Princess of Wales say she is acutely aware of the tension but refuses to engage. “Kate will never show it,” one aide confirmed. “She smiles, she stays gracious. That’s her way of winning — by not playing the game.”

But even Kate’s restraint has reportedly been perceived by Camilla as a subtle power move. “Kate’s calmness only makes Camilla angrier. She can’t ruffle her, and that drives her crazy,” the insider added.

    Fans Take Sides

The rumored feud has polarized royal watchers. Supporters of Kate flooded social media with praise: “Camilla can try, but she will never dim Kate’s light. Kate is dignity personified.”

Meanwhile, others sympathized with Camilla’s struggle for acceptance: “It’s easy to forget what Camilla went through. She clawed her way back from being vilified. No wonder she resents Kate’s smooth sailing.”

    A Battle for Legacy

As King Charles’ reign progresses, observers say the rivalry is less about the present and more about the future. “Camilla knows her time is limited. Kate is the future of the monarchy. That’s the heart of this feud — one reign ending, another waiting in the wings,” a senior royal source warned.

For now, the palace insists there is no rift — but the whispers won’t die. And as long as Kate’s star shines brighter, Camilla’s shadow may grow darker.

BREAKING: Broken Dani Dyer Shows Off Injuries For First Time After Sudden Departure From Strictly

    Dani Dyer

Dani Dyer has had an ’emotional week’ since she was forced to quit Strictly Come Dancing. The Love Island winner, 29, had been poised to take part in the BBC competition alongside professional dancer Nikita Kuzmin but she had to pull out before the first live show because she had suffered a fractured ankle.

The TV star has since been replaced by fellow Love Island winner Amber Davies, who since her time on the ITV2 programme has carved out an impressive career in musical theatre and is due to star in a new production of Legally Blonde, but she took to social media on Sunday night to update fans on how she is doing.

Dani admitted she had been ‘so excited’ to hit the dancefloor and is just trying to take each and every day as it comes whilst she is on the road to recovery.

Alongside a selfie, she wrote on Instagram: “It’s been a lazy.. emotional week I was so excited for this side of the year but it really hasn’t ended the way I wanted it too.. taking everyday as it comes whilst my annoying foot gets better!”

In further photos that she posted into the carousel, Dani showed the get well soon flowers she has received and a shot of her television screen revealed that she is now watching The Summer I Turned Pretty as she gets back to health. One photo was a small card with the instructions ‘Inhale, exhale and let it go’ written on it.

In one further snap, Dani showed off her foot in a sling propped up on a set of cushions. Fans rushed to comfort Dani as she shared the post and were hopeful that she will be able to take to the ballroom in next year’s edition of the show, with one writing: “Gutted for you but hope you will be back next year.”

Another said: “Still so gutted for you. Hopefully we’ll get to see yours and nikitas Quickstep next year!” whilst a third said: “I’m so sad for you Dani, we were so looking forward to watching you smash it. 2026 it is [wink emoji]”

    Dani Dyer

Dani took to social media to share her devastation of the news in an emotional statement, and the news was met with sorrow from her fellow dancers on the hit BBC show.

Taking to Instagram, Dani, who shot to fame on the ITV2 dating show in 2018, said: “I had a fall on Friday in rehearsals and landed funny. I thought I had rolled my foot but it swelled up badly over the weekend and after an MRI scan yesterday, it turns out I have fractured my ankle.

“Apparently doing the quickstep on a fracture is not advisable (!!) and the doctors have said I am not allowed to dance so l’ve had to pull out of the show. To say I’m heartbroken is the biggest understatement. I am so going to miss dancing with Nikita but will of course be watching closely and cheering all the couples on.”

Following the news, Sarah James, Executive Producer, BBC Studios added: “Dani has brought so much passion, joy and enthusiasm to Strictly, and her partnership with Nikita was off to the most sensational start.

“Everyone on the show is incredibly sad that she’s no longer able to compete in this year’s series. We send her all our love and best wishes for a swift recovery, and we very much hope to welcome her back to the ballroom in the future.”

UNEASY MOMENT: Loose Women’s Coleen Nolan gets Emotional as she Opens Up about her SECRET PAIN

    Chị em nhà Nolan

Coleen Nolan became emotional as she recalled the exact moment the ‘insecurities’ with her weight began. The Loose Women star, 60, has been open about her weight journey over the years, but on Monday’s edition of the ITV chat show, she pinpointed the moment everything began for her.

The singer, who shot to fame as the youngest member of The Nolan Sisters, was grateful that she and her siblings did not have to endure the onslaught of social media trolling when they became famous in the late 1970s but remembered being called ‘heavy’ when she was a child, and admitted that it stayed with her ever since.

Coleen Nolan 'putting on a brave face' despite suffering heartbreak | Celebrity News | Showbiz & TV | Express.co.uk

Appearing alongside anchor Ruth Langsford, as well as fellow panellist Gloria Hunniford and former EastEnders actress Nadia Sawalha, Coleen recalled feeling as if she was the ‘biggest’ in the group when they were enjoying success with hits like I’m In The Mood For Dancing and Gotta Pull Myself Together.

She said: “I look now and go ‘I don’t know what I was worried about…’ but I always felt as if I was the biggest in the group, I was the one with the big boobs and I was quite tall believe it or not. So I always had that, luckily it wasn’t in the social media age so I wasn’t getting trolled or reading all about it. But my insecurities about my weight started actually from a friend of the family.”

The former Dancing On Ice star couldn’t recall exactly who it was, but recalled being ‘very small’ when a friend of the family had picked her up when she was just young, and begged with parents and adults to be mindful of what they say around children.

“I can’t remember who it was, I know it was a guy, and I was only very, very small. He went to pick me up and said ‘Ooh, she’s a heavy one.’

“And it stayed with me my whole life. I have such a phobia of being picked up, I constantly think ‘Oh don’t pick me up because I’m gonna be too heavy. This has been my whole life. As a parent or adults around children, you need to be really careful around the language because it stays.”

The TV favourite managed to lose five stone in the late 2000s and subsequently launched a fitness DVD but later admitted she had ‘lost her personality’ during that tough time as she stuck to a strict regime. In 2021, she claimed that switching to a vegan diet had led to further weight loss. At the time, she told Bella magazine that she felt better than ever but sometimes missed a McDonald’s milkshake.

She said: “I feel much better than I’ve ever felt. I’ve changed my diet and had my teeth done, which I just love… I can’t stop smiling.”

Coleen went on to joke that she was concerned she would “be in a mobility scooter before 60” if she didn’t lose weight as her “back and hips were bad”.

“Getting off the sofa was hard work,” she explained.

It was her daughter Ciara who inspired her to become vegan after showing her documentaries about the health benefits of the lifestyle.

“I’ve probably dropped a couple of stone,” she added. ” The weight loss was just a bonus. Me going vegan was never about losing weight.”

Strictly Scandal Explodes As Vernon Kay Breaks Silence On ‘Issue’ While Tess Daly Faces Fierce Backlash

    Vernon defended his wife

TV and radio star Vernon Kay praised Strictly over the weekend, even after the show suffered an awkward on-air blunder on Saturday night involving his wife Tess Daly (September 27).

During the show’s first live episode, all 15 couples performed in hopes of remaining in the competition when the lines open this weekend.

For the most part, the programme went ahead as planned. However, ahead of La Voix’s performance with Aljaz Skorjanec, an issue occurred off-camera.

    Strictly suffers awkward blunder

At the time of the issue, host Claudia Winkleman was speaking to EastEnders actor Balvinder Sopal. When she tried to hand back over to co-host Tess Daly, it became clear to viewers that she wasn’t ready.

Being the pro that she is, Claudia improvised on the spot and began awkwardly talking to the soap star again.

Luckily, Claudia was given the all-clear and was able to return to Tess properly.

After La Voix’s performance, which was an American Smooth to Pink Pony Club by Chappell Roan, it was later revealed that the former Drag Race star was supposed to come onto the dancefloor on a pony.

Instead, La Voix’s performance began with her sitting on the carousel-style pony.

Speaking about Saturday’s show with Sara Cox, Vernon expressed: “We’ve done our fair share of live tele, and live tele is really difficult because anything can go wrong at any time.”

“Are you talking about La Voix as well on Saturday night?” Sara asked. “There was an issue with La Voix’s pony, she was supposed to be descended from the ceiling and slowly lowered.”

Defending the situation, Vernon replied: “Nobody knows until someone says, ‘Oh the pony was supposed to go up’, nobody would’ve known any different.”

“It was brilliant because Claudia went back to Tess and then she was like, ‘Oh not now, hang on a minute, in a minute,’ but it was a lovely bit of live tele and they just handled it brilliantly,” Sara added.

While Sara had nothing but good things to say about Tess, viewers online insisted she should be replaced.

‘I’d love this show to evolve beyond Tess’

“2026 needs to see La Voix taking over from Tess presenting. I said what I said,” one user wrote on X.

“I’d love for this show to evolve beyond Tess Daly,” another said.

“Awful…and the amount she gets paid is disgusting,” a third remarked.

However, many came to her defense, with one person writing: “I like her. She lets the stars shine and doesn’t make it about her. Her low-key approach works especially with the big personalities that the judges have.”

“She’s really good as a duo with Claudia though,” another declared.

“I find nothing wrong with her,” a third stated.

SHOCKING:ITV GMB fury as ‘virtue-signalling’ Ed Balls slammed for ‘hysterical’ clash with Reform’s Zia Yusuf: ‘Pro-Labour EMBARRASSMENT to broadcasting!’

A rather tense clash between Reform UK’s Zia Yusuf and Good Morning Britain hosts Susanna Reid and Ed Balls has caused uproar thanks to the fiery nature of the exchange.

Joining the ITV show via video link on Monday morning, Mr Yusuf appeared on the breakfast show to discuss his party’s proposals to scrap indefinite leave to remain for thousands currently in the UK.

The policy, announced by party leader Nigel Farage last week, has faced its fair share of scrutiny, with Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer going as far as to describe it as “racist” and “immoral”.

And another vocal critic appeared to be former Labour MP-turned-TV presenter Mr Balls, who unleashed a rather hostile grilling of Mr Yusuf during their interview on Monday.

Kicking off the discussion, Mr Balls quizzed: “So that I can understand who this applies to.

“So if you came here in the 1970s as an Asian person fleeing from Idi Amin’s policies in Uganda, you’ve lived here for 40 years, but you’re on a low income with independent leave to remain.

“Under your policy, if your income is too low, then you would be asked to leave?” Mr Balls asked, to which Mr Yusuf plainly replied: “No, because you would have a pathway to citizenship. So the pathway to citizenship remains.”

Mr Balls attempted to cut Mr Yusuf off, but Reform’s Head of the Department of Government Efficiency stood firm: “And most of the people you’re describing there, Ed, would have already claimed citizenship.

“So again, what constantly happens is this hysterical referral to some hypothetical that largely does not exist.”

Both Ms Reid and Mr Balls quickly reacted to the accusations of hysteria, with the former cutting in: “No, we’re just trying to get clear who you’re targeting!”

Mr Balls then continued his grilling: “So if you came here from Hong Kong in 2020, escaping there because you were a refugee and were given a citizenship, an independent leave to remain from Boris Johnson’s government, or you are on track to get that, would you now lose that if there was a Reform government?”

Mr Yusuf explained again: “For those who have come here from Hong Kong as part of that VNO visa program, those people, a significant portion would qualify for the work visa if they wanted to do that.

“And if they didn’t, there would be a humanitarian visa that would continue to be available to them, and ultimately, a citizenship.”

“And Afghanistan, if we’re talking Afghanistan-” Mr Balls yelled as he tried to interrupt again, only for Mr Yusuf to continue: “We are talking about 3.8 million non-EU migrants who came here under Boris Johnson, who are going to be hundreds of billions of pounds worth of a drain on the British taxpayers’ purse. We can ill afford it, and it’s totally unfair for them to go to work to pay for that.”

Mr Balls kept his line of questioning the same as he weighed back in: “But I thought you said those who came here on the post-Brexit deal agreed with the EU wouldn’t have this policy applied to them.

“I mean, listening to you speaking, if you came from Uganda, if you came from Hong Kong, as I understand it, if you came from the EU, you’re going to say, actually, either you’re going to become a citizen, or you’re going to be on a new humanitarian visa. Who are the people you’re actually going to deport? I mean, isn’t this a bit of a con?”

     | PA“Ed, either I misheard you, or you referred to Uganda and Hong Kong as inside the EU. Obviously, those are not countries in the EU-” Mr Yusuf mocked, prompting Mr Balls to fire back: “No, no, I didn’t say that. I said from Hong Kong, or Uganda, or from the EU. Don’t be silly, Zia.”

Reform’s Head of Doge attempted to explain once more: “Here are the facts, Ed. There were 3.8 million people brought in as part of what we call this ‘Boris-wave’.

“Against the wishes of the British people who voted for less immigration… Over 90 percent of those people are from non-EU countries. And any sensible, reasonable estimate of the cost of those people to the British taxpayers, the majority of whom are dependents, half of them do not work and never will, will be hundreds of billions of pounds.

“Those are the people that we are primarily concerned about. But we make no apologies for this. British welfare, welfare funded by the British taxpayer, will not be payable to foreign nationals. And it is unacceptable that that continues to happen.”

    ITV GMB: Susanna Reid

Mr Balls continued his tirade: “You said you were going to deport illegal immigrants, but these people came here legally. How many of them will you deport in the first parliament of a Reform government in order to make these savings that you say you can make?”

Mr Yusuf again had an answer: “Well, the most important thing is that we’re going to stop the benefits from going to people who are those foreign nationals. That’s the thing that’s going to save people money.

“And once that happens, all the evidence, if you look at sensible countries around the world, with serious immigration policies and successful immigration policies, and by the way, uphold their borders, those people leave of their own accord. But again, we make no apologies for this.

“Under a Reform government, yes, we will enforce immigration law. I know that might sound to some people hysterical in a political establishment because that hasn’t happened for decades. But I think British people expect our borders to be upheld.

Sir Keir Starmer accused Reform UK of promoting a ‘racist’ policy on immigration | PA“Look, just over the weekend, just yesterday, 125 illegal migrants crossed the channel in a single boat. That’s a record. The only thing that Labour is doing is breaking records in some kind of new industrial revolution inside the illegal dinghy market.

“Our borders are porous, the British people are sick and tired of it, Ed. And I’m sorry, calling them racist, calling them racist simply will not work,” he signed off in a thinly-veiled dig at the PM.

Footage of the debate was soon shared across social media once Ms Reid and Mr Balls had put Mr Yusuf in the firing line, and it’s safe to say many weren’t too pleased with the “contempt” shown towards the politician.

Taking to X, several viewers applauded Mr Yusuf’s retort to Mr Balls’ probes, including one who wrote: “Zia Yusuf made it totally clear at least four times who the Reform party was targeting, unfortunately Ed Balls and Susanna Reid didn’t seem to hear him, it was a clear and concise interview where Yusuf answered every question articulately, Susanna Reid rendered speechless.”

“Virtue signalling activists, posing as journalists – well done Zia, great work. Vote @reformparty_uk to save Britain,” a second argued before a third hit out: “Ed Balls is a biased, pro Labour embarrassment to broadcasting.”

Elsewhere, a fourth fumed: “The tone in the line of questioning to Zia was borderline hysterical. It’s clear who they are targeting. 1. ALL who have come illegally 2. Those here with ILR AND who have never contributed to society (net drain). Not difficult to understand, even for a couple of MSM puppets.”

And a fifth agreed: “What a farce. @edballs and @susannareid100, hang your heads in shame; your contempt, attitudes and body language towards @ZiaYusufUK spoke volumes about you and @GMB. The way you continually pressured him and did not allow him to provide context to the questions was shocking.”

“He told you in very clear language a number of times but you didn’t want to hear him,” a sixth weighed in. “Ed and Susanna aren’t unbiased journalists by any stretch of the imagination, especially when one of them is married to a Labour cabinet minister. Well done Mr Yusuf. You now have my vote.”

However, Ms Reid and Mr Balls did receive the support from a handful who felt Mr Yusuf floundered under scrutiny from the pair.

One critic penned: “Reform have no policies, the only thing I heard was small boats that’s all they have. Zia kept changing his mind and got himself confused. Shameful that the media gives them so much airtime.”

And a second suggested: “He hasn’t really answered the question. What happens to a foreign born national that has worked here for decades and is about to reach retirement age? Do they get told to leave?” (sic)
