Dani Dyer has had an ’emotional week’ since she was forced to quit Strictly Come Dancing. The Love Island winner, 29, had been poised to take part in the BBC competition alongside professional dancer Nikita Kuzmin but she had to pull out before the first live show because she had suffered a fractured ankle.

The TV star has since been replaced by fellow Love Island winner Amber Davies, who since her time on the ITV2 programme has carved out an impressive career in musical theatre and is due to star in a new production of Legally Blonde, but she took to social media on Sunday night to update fans on how she is doing.

Dani admitted she had been ‘so excited’ to hit the dancefloor and is just trying to take each and every day as it comes whilst she is on the road to recovery.

Alongside a selfie, she wrote on Instagram: “It’s been a lazy.. emotional week I was so excited for this side of the year but it really hasn’t ended the way I wanted it too.. taking everyday as it comes whilst my annoying foot gets better!”

In further photos that she posted into the carousel, Dani showed the get well soon flowers she has received and a shot of her television screen revealed that she is now watching The Summer I Turned Pretty as she gets back to health. One photo was a small card with the instructions ‘Inhale, exhale and let it go’ written on it.

In one further snap, Dani showed off her foot in a sling propped up on a set of cushions. Fans rushed to comfort Dani as she shared the post and were hopeful that she will be able to take to the ballroom in next year’s edition of the show, with one writing: “Gutted for you but hope you will be back next year.”

Another said: “Still so gutted for you. Hopefully we’ll get to see yours and nikitas Quickstep next year!” whilst a third said: “I’m so sad for you Dani, we were so looking forward to watching you smash it. 2026 it is

Dani took to social media to share her devastation of the news in an emotional statement, and the news was met with sorrow from her fellow dancers on the hit BBC show.

Taking to Instagram, Dani, who shot to fame on the ITV2 dating show in 2018, said: “I had a fall on Friday in rehearsals and landed funny. I thought I had rolled my foot but it swelled up badly over the weekend and after an MRI scan yesterday, it turns out I have fractured my ankle.

“Apparently doing the quickstep on a fracture is not advisable (!!) and the doctors have said I am not allowed to dance so l’ve had to pull out of the show. To say I’m heartbroken is the biggest understatement. I am so going to miss dancing with Nikita but will of course be watching closely and cheering all the couples on.”

Following the news, Sarah James, Executive Producer, BBC Studios added: “Dani has brought so much passion, joy and enthusiasm to Strictly, and her partnership with Nikita was off to the most sensational start.

“Everyone on the show is incredibly sad that she’s no longer able to compete in this year’s series. We send her all our love and best wishes for a swift recovery, and we very much hope to welcome her back to the ballroom in the future.”

Hollywood star Nicole Kidman and her country singer husband Keith Urban have reportedly split after 19 years of marriage.

According to TMZ, the couple have been living apart “since the beginning of summer”. A source told the publication that Keith has “acquired his own residence in Nashville and moved out of their family home”.

Meanwhile, he told Kelly Clarkson in a recent interview that Nicole hears “everything” he does. “Especially if I’m writing an album,” he said.

“What I’ve learned is when I play her something, I’m obviously interested in her reaction, but I’m also really interested in how I feel when I’m playing it for her or anybody else. I’ve learned to trust my reaction much more.”

Strictly Come Dancing fans have been left feeling sorry for star George Clarke after he revealed that he watched the pre-recorded launch show alone at home.

The YouTuber, 25, is one of several famous faces taking part in this year’s edition of the BBC favourite alongside fellow celebrities like Geordie Shore’s Vicky Pattison, Neighbours legend Stefan Dennis and rugby player Chris Robshaw amongst a whole host of others. But when the first show went on air more than a week ago, George watched the transmission on his own with a takeaway.

Speaking on The Useless Hotline podcast, he told co-host Max Baledge: “So I watched it at home with no one. No, I actually did! I got a Subway as well!”

Shocked, Max cut in: “George, that is the most upsetting… I would have like literally thrown you a party and like done a full jamboree. But if I would’ve known that you were watching it by yourself, me and Andrew had more of a shindig here than you probably did!”

George explained that his co-stars, including former Love Island winner Dani Dyer, who was later replaced by musical theatre star Amber Davies after she had sustained an injury, were watching the show with family and friends and he had no one.

He added: “What’s funny as well is they asked for us to send to the group chat/like the socials guy, a video of how we’re watching the show.

“I’m talking about viewing parties. Dani Dyer’s got like a little paddle with like ten on one side, her face on the other. Vicky’s there with her husband and her whole family, just like loads of stuff. And I’m sat there in my outfit own my own eating a Subway!”

When pressed for details of why he was home alone, George admitted that everyone who he lives with were away at that point. Fellow social media star Arthur Hill was away in Los Angeles, while ChrisMD – real name Christopher Dixon – was away for the weekend.

Fans took to the comments to say how they felt sorry for George, with one writing: “Why do I feel bad.”

Another said: “Aww no George,” while a third commented: “Aww bless him.”

Just before announcing his participation in this year’s lineup, George confirmed he was dating lingerie model Yasmin Amelia. He explained his reasoning on the Useless Hotline Podcast, saying he wanted to take control of the story before speculation started.

Our source claims that Posh surprised herself by how emotional she became while filming the documentary, especially when it came to unpacking her role as matriarch of the Beckham clan. At one point in the trailer, a tearful Victoria confesses she just wants “my kids and David to be proud of me”, before being comforted by her husband of 26 years, and our source says that’s just the tip of what’s to come when it drops on 9 October.

“She found it very emotional but liberating at the same time,” the source tells us. “It made her realise how much she is loved, how her family have supported her and got her through the ups and downs.

“It was very much a roller coaster of emotions because of the big thing that’s still affecting her, her fractured relationship with Brooklyn. But it also made her realise that she can’t keep raking over the heartbreak of this situation with him, enough is enough, now.”

The docuseries, directed by the person behind Michelle Obama’s Becoming film, is expected to show Essex-born Victoria confront a number of her Achilles’ heels over the years – including her often being labelled “that miserable cow that never smiled” in her younger years, and her fashion business plunging millions of pounds into the red.

The series’ synopsis claims there has always been “more than meets the eye” to Victoria, and promises “a rare, nuanced portrait of a woman who has continually reinvented herself in the public eye”.

While Victoria is expected to do her fair share of offloading and first-person pieces to camera, there is also input from former pro footballer David, who became a Sir in the King’s Birthday Honours this year, as well as interviews with some of the biggest names in high fashion and a few members of her inner circle.

One person who isn’t expected to feature in the latter category – and who also did not make any mention of the trailer on his social media – is her eldest son Brooklyn, 26, who is rumoured to be virtually estranged from his parents after a long-running family feud.

 

His lack of public shout-out is a far cry from just two years ago, when Brooklyn and his actress wife Nicola Peltz, 30, joined the rest of so-called “Brand Beckham” on the red carpet, for the release of the documentary about David’s life. At the time, Brooklyn was full Team Beckham, describing it in interviews as “amazing”.

But Brooklyn’s stony silence about the family’s latest offering isn’t perhaps so surprising, given that he hasn’t publicly acknowledged a number of his parents’ big occasions over the past year, including his dad’s 50th birthday, amid the ongoing talk of a feud sparked by his relationship with model and actress wife Nicola.

 

The trailer for the latest series, made by the same team as Beckham, dropped on 17 September and quickly sparked accusations that Brooklyn was airbrushed out of Victoria’s story.

Despite headlines accusing the team behind the show of erasing Brooklyn altogether, he does actually make a blink-and-you’ll-miss it cameo in some footage from the late 90s. As an emotional Victoria declares, “It’s taken so long to get to this point, I’m not going to let it slip through my fingers again”, flashback film shows a very smiley – and much younger – Posh Spice cradling baby Brooklyn on board a yacht.

Our source maintains that viewers shouldn’t be surprised by Brooklyn’s cameos because, despite the ongoing feud, Victoria remains hopeful that they’ll be reunited one day.

“She knows he will, one day, come back to her – but it’s just not the right time,” they claim. “That’s how she’s looking at it now, this project has made her realise how blessed she is to have her family around her and supporting her. She still hopes she and Brooklyn will sort things out, of course she does, but at the same time, she can’t keep fighting the same fight.”

BBC Breakfast: Errol reveals he had prostate cancer

Jon Kay told guest Errol Hamlet he was “sorry” after the BBC Breakfast guest announced he was battling prostate cancer live on air. During the inspiring segment, Jon and Sally Nugent spoke with Errol and Maya about the BBC’s Make A Difference Awards, which celebrate unsung heroes who “improve the lives of others”.

Jon went on, “This year’s winners have been announced, and two of them are with us this morning on the sofa. We are delighted to welcome 14-year-old Maya, who won Radio Manchester’s Young Hero Award, and also Errol Hamlet, who won the Active Award with Radio Leeds.”

Errol explained that he won his award for walking around his area and said, “It makes me feel on top of the world”. He told the hosts, “When I won this award, it was like being on top of the world because I knew I was doing something that I wanted to be doing.”

Maya, who was diagnosed with a rare brain tumour, explained she won the award after setting herself a challenge of running 100k while undergoing cancer treatment.

When asked how proud she was feeling, Maya beamed, “I feel really proud, but I’m also happy that I’ve made more people aware of childhood cancer, because you don’t think it’s going to happen to you, until it actually does.

“So the fact that people are more aware of it, and they kind of watch and see my journey, makes me really happy.”

She added, “The treatment was very tiring, but I had so much support from everyone else, and just seeing the difference I was making, and seeing the money that was raised to help other people like me who are less fortunate.”

Turning to Errol, Jon asked, “Amazing, what do you think of her, Errol?”

“Very good,” Errol replied before announcing, “But I’m a victim of prostate cancer as well. I’ve been suffering from prostate cancer now for 15 years.”

“Oh, I’m sorry,” Jon replied, “So you understand the positivity?”

“That’s why the walking comes into force because my doctor is saying to me, ‘keep doing what you’re doing, and you can never go wrong’,” Errol told the hosts.

“So I get up, get on with it, and if I go tomorrow, I’ve got no regrets.”

Rod Stewart has been very candid about his mortality, speaking freely about the topic with his wife, Penny Lancaster, after his health scares over the years.

Rod Stewart has faced multiple health battles in the past, but he’s “very vigilant” with his health, his wife Penny Lancaster he said. The rocker looks after himself through good diet, exercise and regular health checks, setting himself goals to be the “fastest 80-year-old” and built a sprinting track in his garden to practise.

In Penny’s book, Someone Like Me, the 54-year-old spoke for the first time of what happened after Rod was diagnosed with cancer in 2017. 

After he made her vow to keep it between them while they got further information, Penny eventually went on anti-depressants and attended therapy after dealing with the weight of the secret, among discussing her harrowing experience with sexual assault. But after the health scare, it seems to have put Rod into gear, with Penny now saying that he’s promised her 20 more years.

Speaking to The Times, Penny admitted that Rod is very blasé about death, she said: “He feels like when the time’s up, the time’s up, but he’ll go in a flame of laughter and fun.”

It followed a discussion of Ozzy Osbourne’s death; Rod had posted on Instagram at the time: “Bye, bye Ozzy. Sleep well, my friend. I’ll see you up there — later rather than sooner.” Penny explained they all knew that Ozzy’s health was suffering.

Rod’s health had suffered years prior as he fought cancer for two years before getting the all-clear in July 2019. He had been diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2017 after a routine appointment.

They discovered he had an aggressive form of cancer, but Rod was eager to keep things quiet while they waited on further tests.

Penny said in her book the wait for the results was “excruciating”, but Rod was focused on the future and planning his next tour while he was sitting in the recovery room.

Meanwhile, Penny was silently struggling, adding that the secrecy was a challenge and she had to cut off her support network until they were further down the line. In her book, she said it was an “agonising wait”.

Penny said: “I felt incredibly low, and my depression spiralled further, and I realised that to be strong for both myself and Rod, I might need some help too.” She went on anti-depressants for a time which she has since described as the “life-raft” she needed.

Peter Kay has been forced to cancel two shows as part of his ongoing UK arena tour.

Comedian Peter Kay has been forced to axe a performance following a medical procedure. The beloved entertainer broke the news via his social media platform X, previously known as Twitter. The funnyman has broken records with his ongoing tour, now in its third year, but Peter has regrettably had to scrap two forthcoming gigs.

The 52 year old Bolton native returned to the limelight last year, launching his first live comedy performances in 12 years this past December as part of an arena tour extending through 2025 owing to overwhelming public appetite.

This marks his inaugural live tour since 2010, when he secured the Guinness World Record for the most successful run ever, entertaining over 1.2 million audience members, reports the Mirror. Kay scrapped his previous tour in December 2017, citing “unforeseen family circumstances”.

An announcement issued on his social media declared: “SJM concerts announcement: We regret to inform you that due to a routine kidney stone procedure, Peter will be unable to perform his scheduled shows at Nottingham Motorpoint Arena on Sunday October 5 and Monday October 6.

“Following medical advice, Peter will be taking a period of time to rest and recover,” the statement continued.

Earlier this year, Peter made headlines for unfortunate reasons when he was captured on camera ejecting a heckler from his performance.

He stopped his act and instructed security to escort several audience members out after alleging they were ruining the experience for other patrons. However, Peter found himself in hot water after he referred to a fan he had ejected as “Lisa Riley”, sparking controversy with the heckler accusing him of being a “bully”.

By June, it appeared that Peter was ready to move on from the incident and focus on a new career path.

Peter announced that he has started writing what promises to be his most personal book yet. In a humorous nod to Bridget Jones’ Diary, the cover features the comedian’s face superimposed onto the iconic character.

Sharing the news, he said: “Introducing… Peter Kay’s Diary: The Monthly Memoir of a Boy from Bolton, Peter’s most personal and hilarious book yet. Join Peter for a laugh-out-loud journey through his life, month by month.”

A sneak peek of the book added: “Think of this autobiography as a twelve-month subscription to my memories and meanderings across the calendar year. With each month reflecting a different phase of my life, complete with dodgy decisions, bizarre plot twists and more than a few laugh-out-loud moments.”

Earlier in February, Peter had an encounter with hecklers at his Better Late Than Never… Again! gig at Manchester’s AO Arena which didn’t go quite as planned. Despite insisting it wasn’t meant as an insult, and Lisa herself acknowledging there was no ill-intent, the woman involved was left feeling humiliated by the star.

King Charles ‘saddened’ over Prince Harry’s ‘sabotage’ claim following their reunion

Alleged details of their meeting emerged this weekend

King Charles is reportedly saddened by Prince Harry‘s claims that people may have been trying to sabotage their reconciliation.

On September 10, Charles, 76, and Harry, 41, met for the first time since February last year. It came about when the Duke of Sussex was on a four-day trip to the UK. They spent around 55 minutes together over tea at Clarence House, the king’s London residence. The meeting was seen as a potential first step towards a reconciliation between father and son amid their strained relationship.

That evening, Harry told guests at a charity reception that Charles was “great”. Aides shared that he enjoyed visiting and being back in the UK.

Now, new alleged details have emerged about the meeting and have been addressed by Prince Harry’s team.

Previous reports had claimed that Harry might take part in a handful of public events in the UK, with efforts to get him and Charles together more often. However, royal sources stressed that Harry couldn’t be a “half-in, half-out” member of the royal family. One insider reportedly told the Mail on Sunday: “Whoever is behind them seems to have mistaken a brief tea and a slice of cake for the Treaty of Versailles.”

However, this past weekend, alleged details of the meeting were published in The Sun. The tabloid claimed that Harry was surprised at how “distinctly formal” the meeting was.

‘Categorically false’ claims

A spokesman for Prince Harry has now addressed the claims. A statement read: “Recent reporting of The Duke’s view of the tone of the meeting, is categorically false.

“The quotes attributed to him are pure invention fed, one can only assume, by sources intent on sabotaging any reconciliation between father and son. Presumably, those same sources have also chosen to disclose that gifts were exchanged.”

They added: “While we would have preferred such details to remain private, for the sake of clarity we can confirm that a framed photograph was handed over, however the image did not contain the Duke and Duchess.”

A Buckingham Palace source has since reportedly told The Telegraph that the “sabotage” claim was “counterproductive”. They added: “It’s very sad, especially because everyone has been working hard behind the scenes to make the private relationship work.”

Aides have told the newspaper that everyone involved wants to see the two on good terms, not least King Charles himself.

Meanwhile, a royal commentator recently suggested that Harry could be setting Archie and Lilibet up for “emotional problems” when they get older. It’s thought that Charles last saw his grandchildren in June 2022 during Queen Elizabeth II’s platinum jubilee celebrations. At the time, Lilibet had her first birthday while Archie was three.

Royal expert and author Hugo Vickers said on The Sun’s Royal Exclusive show: “I worry about the children because there’s going to come a point when they’re going to say, why haven’t I met my grandfather on either side?

“And so he’s storing up a lot of, you know, emotional problems for them, I think.”

Strictly Come Dancing has revealed a dramatic shake-up to its voting system – with head judge Shirley Ballas no longer having the final say in all the dance-offs.

Shirley, 65, announced the surprise news during the first live show of the 2025 series. She told fans the “power” needs to be shared.

The two lowest-scoring couples always battle it out in the dance-off during Strictly Come Dancing: The Results. The judges – who also include Anton Du Beke, Motsi Mabuse and Craig Revel Horwood – then vote on who should stay and who should go home.

In the past, Shirley has always cast the deciding vote if the panel is split. But that is all going to change from now. The judges will be taking it on turn each week on a rota system.

Shirley said during Saturday’s live show: “For seven years, I’ve been responsible for one gruelling decision. But that’s about to change. It’s time that power was shared by a different judge each week.”

Why has the BBC changed Shirley’s ‘deciding vote’?

BBC bosses are believed to have made the change to keep Strictly Come Dancing unpredictable and fresh for viewers. But it is also thought it has been done to protect Shirley from online keyboard warriors who disagree with her decision.

Over the years, angry viewers have accused Shirley of making “sexist” decisions as a judge, particularly when saving male contestants over female ones. She has even received death threats from Strictly fans.

The head judge has previously spoken out about the toll trolls have taken on her mental health. Last year, she admitted to Radio Times: “I’m sitting there every weekend, thinking, Dear Lord, my saviour, please let the other three make the decision so it doesn’t come down to me.

“But somebody has to do this job and I try to send them home with as much confidence and affection as I can.”

Shirley appears delighted by the voting twist. Taking to X, she has responded to a viewer who had asked: “Wonder how Shirley felt about the head judge twist?” Shirley replied: “I got a call and I said: ‘Omg yes love it. I can’t wait to see Anton send someone home.’”

Shirley has also retweeted a member of the public who had posted on the social media site: “They’ve taken Shirley’s power away! I love it!!!”

‘Is it too late to run away?’

Strictly Come Dancing’s 2025 celebrities were quick to share their feelings about the new shake-up to Shirley’s deciding vote.

YouTuber George Clarke joked: “Is it too late to run away?” Vicky Pattison, who found fame on Geordie Shore, gasped: “This changes everything.”

Scottish showbiz presenter Ross King added: “I just can’t believe it!” While EastEnders actress, Balvinder Sopal, admitted: “I was nervous, but this is another level.”

But viewers have been more optimistic about the change. One fan praised it for being a “better, fair system for results”. Another added online: “A different judge getting the casting vote. This is a game changer.”

Someone else also wrote: “Oooh I like that, a new head judge final vote off choice each week, that’ll be interesting.”

When is the next episode of Strictly on?

Strictly Come Dancing continues this Saturday (October 4, 2025) at 6.20pm. The following night will be the first Strictly Come Dancing: The Results of the 2025 series. The Results show, featuring this week’s ‘head judge’, starts at 7.15pm.
