Strictly Come Dancing 2025 contestant Dani Dyer has been forced to withdraw from the show, it has been revealed

 

Dani Dyer will no longer compete in the new series of Strictly Come Dancing after sustaining a nasty injury during training. The former Love Island star, who is the daughter of EastEnders actor Danny Dyer, released an alarming statement this evening, explaining she’s been left “heartbroken” over the tough decision.

She said: “I had a fall on Friday in rehearsals and landed funny. I thought I had rolled my foot, but it swelled up badly over the weekend. After an MRI scan yesterday, it turns out I have fractured my ankle. Apparently, doing the quickstep on a fracture is not advisable, and the doctors have said I am not allowed to dance, so I’ve had to pull out of the show.”

The 29-year-old TV star added: “To say I’m heartbroken is the biggest understatement. I am so going to miss dancing with Nikita, but of course, I will be watching closely and cheering all the couples on.”

Dani was set to dance for this weekend’s first live show with her professional partner Nikita Kuzmin as the 2025 series officially starts on Saturday evening on BBC One for an all-new season hosted by Claudia Winkleman and Tess Daly.

Sarah James, a BBC Executive Producer, said of the sad news: “Dani has brought so much passion, joy and enthusiasm to Strictly, and her partnership with Nikita was off to the most sensational start.

“Everyone on the show is incredibly sad that she’s no longer able to compete in this year’s series. We send her all our love and best wishes for a swift recovery, and we very much hope to welcome her back to the ballroom in the future.”

Nikita, 27, has yet to release a statement following the crushing blow just days before Saturday’s live show, but he has shared Dani’s update on his Instagram page, with Strictly Come Dancing stars flocking to the comments section to send their condolences.

Fellow pro dancer Dianne Buswell said: “I’m so sorry, Dani and Nikita. We will miss you so much.” Pro Johannes Radebe added, “Gutted for you both. Take care of yourself.”

Karen Hauer said, with a crying emoji, “Oh darling, nooo. I’m so sorry. I wish you a speedy recovery.”

Meanwhile, head judge Shirley Ballas penned: “I’m so so sorry. But health is most important. Get well soon, Angel.”

Strictly Come Dancing returns to BBC One and BBC iPlayer on Saturday at 6.55pm.

Two Strictly Come Dancing stars have been inundated with support after being forced to withdraw from the BBC competition series. After impressing fans during Saturday’s (September 20) launch show, reality star Dani Dyer and her professional partner Nikita Kuzmin will no longer take part in the series after the mother-of-three sustained a gruelling injury. The duo were among the first to be paired, and fans were eager to see Dani showcase her skills after gaining a legion of fans during her 2018 appearance on Love Island.

However, just days before returning to the dancefloor with a show-stopping performance, the 29-year-old revealed she had sustained an ankle injury in a shock statement. Dani penned: “I had a fall on Friday in rehearsals and landed funny. I thought I had rolled my foot, but it swelled up badly over the weekend, and after an MRI scan yesterday, it turns out I have fractured my ankle. “Apparently, doing the quickstep on a fracture is not advisable (!!) and the doctors have said I am not allowed to dance, so I’ve had to pull out of the show.”

As the statement landed on social media, a flurry of fans and their Strictly co-stars took to the comments with support for the duo, including head judge Shirley Ballas, who stated: “I’m so so sorry. But health is most important. Get well soon Angel.”

Strictly professional Luba Mushtuk commented: ” Oh no, I’m so so sorry, please get well soon.”

As the newly announced mother-to-be, Diane Buswell echoed: “I’m so sorry Dani and Nikita, we will miss you so much xx”

“Ohhh nooo!!!! I’m so sorry Dani and Nikiii. Hope you’re getting better soon @danidyerxx sending all my love,” said Nancy Xu

Judge Motsi Mabuse also shared her well-wishes and penned: “Oh so sorry,get well soon. Health first.”

Pro Amy Dowden added: “Sending you so much love and a speedy recovery @danidyerxx absolutely gutted for you and @nikita__kuzmin.”

As fellow contestant Vicky Pattison said: “Absolutely devastated for you Dani. I’m going to miss you so much… Love you loads.”

The singer has been on a mammoth UK tour in the past few weeks, with best mate Katie Price. Recently, Katie brought her eldest son Harvey Price on the stage to perform a song with her and Kerry.

However, Kerry’s behaviour towards Harvey sparked fury from fans – and now, a “really upset” Kerry has responded to the backlash.

During one of Katie and Kerry’s recent shows, Harvey appeared on stage to help perform the iconic noughties tune Whole Again.

Kerry, dressed in a grey jumpsuit, belted out the tune before turning to Harvey to sing the next line. She sang: “Harvey you’re the one. You still turn me on, you can make me whole again.”

Taking Harvey’s hand, Kerry and Katie then danced around the stage as the crowd cheered them on. However, as The Sun reports, fans online were not impressed by Kerry’s behaviour.

One person on Instagram wrote: “Glad to see Harvey enjoying himself but did Kerry Katona just sing ‘Harvey you’re the one you still turn me on?’” Someone else added: “I dunno, I think that’s a bit dodgy mate!” A third also branded it “wrong”.

But now, following the backlash, Kerry has clapped back and called the reaction “absolutely disgusting”.

On Tuesday (September 23), Kerry took to her Instagram and shared a video. Referring to the backlash and The Sun’s article, Kerry said: “Shocking. Absolutely shocking. Harvey is the most innocent young man you’ll meet in the world.”

Recalling the on-stage moment, Kerry said: “And at the end I sing Whole Again and I got Harvey up and he’s dancing and he’s bobbing away, he was loving it. He was having a great time.”

‘It’s really upset me’

The reality star went on: “To insinuate what they are insinuating, you should be ashamed of yourself. What the hell is going on in the world? It’s just wrong on so many levels.”

Clearly affected, Kerry admitted: “It’s really upset me. An innocent moment of singing on stage. I know what the words say, but it’s just a song. It’s just disgusting.”

Kerry captioned the video: “First of all I’m so sorry for walking off stage last night after having a severe anxiety attack. But more importantly, what the [bleep] is wrong with people writing an article like they have done in the Sun newspaper today? Regards Harvey and me singing whole again on stage to turn something so innocently into something so vile you should be [bleep]ing ashamed of yourselves!!!”

For Tuesday morning’s programme, the show discussed 27-year-old Jessica Brady, who died from cancer just weeks after her diagnosis.

“GPs in England are being urged to think again if they’re struggling to diagnose a patient after three appointments,” Jon shared.

“It’s part of new NHS guidance called Jess’s Rule, named after 27-year-old Jessica Brady, who died from stage four cancer after contacting her doctor more than 20 times to try to get a diagnosis.”

BBC Breakfast host announces heartbreaking death

After showing a clip that featured Jessica, BBC Breakfast’s health correspondent, Dominic Hughes, added: “Jessica Brady was a talented engineer at Airbus involved in the design of satellites.”

Before her tragic death, Jess had begun to feel unwell in 2020.

“Over the course of more than 20 GP appointments, she was told her symptoms were related to long COVID and that she was too young for cancer,” Dominic continued.

“Finally, a private specialist diagnosed stage four cancer, but by this time, it was too late. Jessica died just three weeks later at the age of 27.”

‘GPs will also be encouraged to seek second opinions’

Since her death, Jessica’s mother, Andrea, has been campaigning to improve GPs’ awareness and the diagnosis of cancer. Dominic stated that “the introduction of Jess’s Rule is a big step forward”.

“Under Jess’s Rule, GPs will be asked to think again if, after three appointments, they haven’t been able to offer a firm diagnosis or the patient’s symptoms have escalated,” Dominic said.

“That might mean arranging a face-to-face consultation, a thorough physical examination, or more diagnostic tests.

“GPs will also be encouraged to seek second opinions from colleagues, review patient records, and consider specialist referrals. The hope is that Jess’s Rule will save lives and help catch serious conditions earlier, particularly in young people.”

“The offer is on the table,” Paul said at a Radio Centre event, as reported by Express. “If the duchess wants to host a show, she’s very welcome.”

He later reaffirmed the offer on X while responding to a tweet from ITV News’ royal editor Chris Ship.

A woman, who is believed to be a stunt double, was also reportedly taken to hospital.

It has now been reported that production on the highly anticipated next instalment has been shut down for an entire week.

US website Deadline report that due to the filming pattern of Spider-Man, scenes cannot be filmed around Tom’s absence whilst he recovers.

Brown said that she believes Prince William, 43, is upset over the success of his younger brother’s recent trip to the UK.

Earlier this month, Prince Harry, of course, made his much-anticipated and widely-publicised trip across the pond.

Charles ‘desperately misses’ Harry

After months of speculation, the Duke of Sussex also met up with King Charles while in the UK.

For the first time in 19 months, the father and son reunited. They enjoyed a private tea together at Clarence House, Charles’ London residence.

Earlier this year, Harry had expressed a desire for reconciliation with his family. A few months later, senior aides to King Charles and Prince Harry were pictured meeting in London. This fuelled hope of putting an end to the pair’s reported rift.

Reversing the heir/spare narrative, she continued: “It’s no secret that Charles desperately misses his prodigal son who, in earlier days, was always the fun, ebullient scamp compared with the haughtier, more Hanoverian William.”

The comments come amid recent reports that the king will not allow his youngest son to be a “part-time” working royal.

radley Walsh has shocked fans by showing off his new appearance as he now sports a beard.

The TV presenter has left fans doing a double take as he shared an Instagram video from his time off. And it seems he decided to grow the beard!

The Chase host shocked fans today (September 23) as he posted a video on Instagram, while on a holiday in Wales. Bradley has been staying at the Celtic Manor, and wanted to praise the hotel for their “amazing hospitality”.

While he didn’t mention his new beard in the caption, Bradley did speak about it in the video itself.

He said: “Hello everyone. I’m out on a golf course at the moment. I’m not playing golf though. I have got the whiskers out. I have had a few weeks off and I quite like it to be fair. It keeps me warm.”

Bradley then swiftly moved on from his appearance and began gushing about the hospitality of the resort he is staying on.

He added: “I’m at the best resort on the planet. Want to know why? The hospitality here for family’s is amazing. Everyone, the local people of Newport and the surrounding areas are just magical. If you can get your kids here at Christmas then do that.”

The TV star emphasised that it wasn’t a paid ad but that he needed to “give credit where credit is due”.

While he was praising the resort, fans were solely focussed on Bradley Walsh’s new beard. And they were quite shocked.

Taking to the comments, one fan wrote: “God it didn’t look like you for a minute there!”

Another joked his new name would be: “Beardley Walsh.”

A third commented: “New beard, who this?”

Despite being shocked, quite a few fans thought he suited the more rugged look, and advised him to keep it.

Noel Fitzaptrick has made a children’s book, and appeared on the daytime TV show to discuss his upcoming projects with Cat Deeley and Ben Shephard. But it seems viewers were left confused by his behaviour.

While Noel spent a lot of the time speaking about his book, which is to help children grieve the loss of pets, many fans couldn’t help but notice his behaviour wasn’t like his usual self. And accused him of having a God complex, when he has previously made them emotional.

At the beginning of the interview, Ben and Cat praised Noel for the message behind the book, and so he took the time to discuss it in more detail.

He told them: “The number of times I have had people later in life come back tot hank me about how I dealt with something in the year 2000. I think how you deal with the passing of an animal is as important as how you deal with the life.

“Every day I would deal with it. There was nothing I could hand to someone to say that love will live inside them forever.”

But Noel then proceeded to give a very detailed description of the book’s plot, explaining that he chose to not give the child any gender and to just name the dog, ‘dog’, so that it was a “universal experience”.

He explained that the book ends with the child on the beach, where the sky meets the sea and they spot the “invisible line” which proves “that love will always be there forever.”

Noel said: “The one rule I have in my life is to be a contingent for love. It’s why I am on planet Earth. ”

The supervet then took the book from Cat, and began reciting some of his favourite parts, which were inspired by Winnie The Pooh.

Noel emphasised: “This love could change the world. And it does already change the world. We all want love.”

Conversation then turned to Noel’s new YouTube series, which he edits himself, and he admitted it was his way to connect to a new generation of people.

He explained: “I am very lucky. I found out I can’t change the world through surgery alone. I am the guardian of unconditional love and I have learned a long time ago to ignore the cameras and just be present. I’m the same if there is a camera or not.”

Viewers divided about his interview

But some viewers were left slightly confused by his appearance. And felt that he was promoting himself in a God like manner.

One said: Wow. This supervet Noel has some bizarre God complex going on. He has a kids book out and thinks it will change the world. Even his name on the front of the book is as big as the title.”

Another asked: “What the actual bleeding new-age [BLEEP] is he on about?”

“Do you think he loves himself a bit?” a third queried online.

However some fans thought his appearance was great. And believe he is an amazing guy.

Now, insiders claim the absence wasn’t just due to work — it was the result of a heated argument between the couple in the days leading up to the funeral. A close source revealed, “It was a sensitive time for Patrick, and her decision not to attend didn’t go unnoticed. It caused a deep rift between them that they struggled to repair.” 

The tension came after years of juggling careers and parenting across continents. The couple first met in the early 2000s while filming Fame Academy, but didn’t date until years later, when Patrick famously flew from Ireland to Los Angeles just to surprise Cat at a birthday brunch — a gesture she called “unforgettable.”

“He was at a pub in Ireland when he called me. It must have been 2am. I told him I was having brunch at the Beverly Hills Hotel, and he said, ‘I’ll see you there!’
He literally set his alarm, flew from Belfast to London, then to LA. Even the cab driver asked if he should wait!”

The romance seemed perfect — they debuted as a couple at Glamour’s Women of the Year Awards in 2011 and tied the knot in a private Roman ceremony the next year. 

Patrick once said on This Morning:

“If we had got together earlier, we might have got on each other’s nerves. All things came at the right time.”

But their time began to fray under the pressure of careers on both sides of the Atlantic. Cat hosted So You Think You Can Dance in the U.S. for over a decade, while Patrick built his TV career in Ireland and the UK.

In 2020, the couple relocated permanently back to Britain following a terrifying mall shooting in LA that left Patrick and their son Milo visibly shaken.

“Paddy called and said, ‘They’re taking us out through the fire exits.’ I didn’t realize how serious it was until I saw helicopters and SWAT teams,” Cat told You Magazine.

Shortly after, they put their Beverly Hills mansion on the market for $4.995 million and settled into a quieter life in North London. But now, sources say the hurried sale of the house may have been driven by financial and emotional urgency amid a strained marriage.

“They hadn’t fully worked things out yet, but the decision to sell felt rushed,” one source shared. “There were disagreements brewing in the background — and skipping that funeral really escalated things.”

Cat remains focused on her UK-based projects, while Patrick continues to host The Late Late Show in Ireland.
