Lorraine Kelly touched on rumours surrounding the former Strictly pair

Jowita Przystal swiftly moved on from a probe made by ITV’s Lorraine Kelly as she subtly touched on the Strictly Come Dancing star’s love life.

The 31-year-old dancer made her return to screens over the weekend for the launch show of the popular BBC competition, and was partnered with Lorraine star Ross King, 63.

 

Ms Przystal also had fans talking for other reasons over the weekend though, with the Polish dancer understood to have been spotted kissing The Only Way Is Essex’s Pete Wicks, whom she was partnered with in last year’s show.

Mr King was full of praise for his Strictly co-star as the pair joined Ms Kelly on her self-titled show, telling his presenter pal about how approachable and welcoming his dance partner had been.

“She was the first professional [I met],” he announced. “She came up and she gave me a big hug, she was so lovely.

“And she also made sure that we did the last dance, you know when you do the speed dancing thing, and that was it.”

He later beamed: “Can I also just say, you knew my dad, and dad would always say, ‘You can judge a person by how they treat the waiter,’ and this young lady is just an absolute joy.

“The crews love her, everyone loves her because she is just beautiful inside and out. She’s just that lovely person, and so my dad would be like, ‘How lovely.’”

Ms Kelly wasted no time in delving into the weekend rumours though, soon asking Ms Przystal about her 2024 celebrity dance partner.

“I love Pete Wicks, he’s an angel,” she commented, adding: “But last year, you took someone who really couldn’t dance and you made him look good! He got so far in the competition.”

The Scottish host cheekily added: “I know you saw him at the weekend! And you know what, you did really well with him, you really did.”

The pair are understood to have shared a romantic moment as they performed a routine on stage at London’s 02 Arena during a show edition of Mr Wicks’ podcast, Staying Relevant, which he fronts alongside friend Sam Thompson.

Giving nothing away, Ms Przystal replied: “Aw, thank you,” before swiftly moving the conversation along.

“It’s the hard work, and I think the commitment you put in, that’s all that matters,” she reflected.

“The celebrities come from all different backgrounds and they all have different abilities.

“That’s okay, but the beauty of that show is to take someone who has no idea and no clue how to dance, and then to go out and perform. It’s quite overwhelming, but also beautiful.

“To see the smile after each dance we do, to see the smile on the face, it makes me feel like I’m in the right place at the right time, and I’m doing the best job ever.”

While the launch show saw 15 celebrities and dancers coupled up, many Strictly stars were left without a partner, meaning they’ll only partake in the group dances this series.

Among them was Nancy Xu, who is understood to have been left “incensed” by the apparent snub.

Touching on Ms Xu’s two Christmas Special partners going on to perform in the main show, a source commented: “It’s not the first time it’s happened and she’s said she thinks there may be some kind of deeper issue she’s not aware of.”

Speaking to The Sun, they went on to state that while Ms Xu “understands” she can’t be partnered with someone she’s already danced with, she is baffled as to why she doesn’t have any partner at all.

“She is absolutely incensed by it all and has said she can’t work out what she’s done to make producers snub her – especially because she did so well with [Shayne Ward] last year.”

Polite and dignified to the end, John Stapleton certainly didn’t need to reply to emails in his final days.

We had been discussing a follow up interview about his Parkinson’s disease and I had hoped to call him last week, to discuss his health and the fortunes of our beloved Manchester City.

But his reply wasn’t a happy one.

“I’m afraid you might have missed your chance, I’m in hospital at the moment. Best, John.”

I carried on with my day, hoping we would get to speak again in a few weeks instead, and even went to Manchester that evening to watch City beat Napoli. John would have enjoyed that.

But it would have been the last game he got to watch as we learned he di3d this morning, leaving me shocked and saddened.

I didn’t know John that well but I had only ever heard good things about him during his career at BBC and ITV from colleagues like Susanna Reid.

And speaking to him last October it was clear he was an experienced journalist and able to give me all the soundbites and quotes I needed with ease, even as he was working on improving his speech. A few days earlier he has announced he was battling Parkinson’s disease.

But he was upbeat and not about to let it hold him back. At the time he told me: “You can’t escape these things as you grow older, these kinds of developments are sort of inevitable. You learn to live with it, get on with it and try to be as positive as you can.

“Parkinson’s is not going to go away, so learn to live with it. I take the best advice I can from my neurologist, from my speech therapist, and get on with it.”

John was having weekly sessions with a speech therapist to ensure he could still communicate well after his speech showed signs of deteriorating.

And that allowed him to look back over his career when we spoke last year, and he was clearly happy and rightly proud of his brilliant career.

He said: “I had a wonderful time. I’ve worked for the BBC, I worked for ITV, and there’s been a few ups and downs but, overall, I’ve been very lucky.

“I worked on Nationwide, on Panorama, on Newsnight. I did the chat show The Time, The Place. I did Watchdog with Lynn, which used to get six, seven million viewers a week.

“Then, of course, GMTV. I had 17 years of getting up at half past three or quarter to four and doing breakfast television with the lovely Penny Smith, Eammon, Fiona Phillips and Lorraine Kelly. We had a great time.

“I learned things in local newspapers, who did what, when, how and why. That stuff never left me. As a friend once said, ‘you made this tiny bit of talent stretch a long way’.”

He was being modest of course. No one has a career of over 50 years without huge talent and warmth on screen as the tributes coming in from former colleagues prove.

I’m really sad and sorry we didn’t get to have that final call.

Strictly Come Dancing 2025 contestant Vicky Pattison has revealed she was in a c@r cr@sh just a day before the launch show airs on BBC One on Saturday, September 20. The 37-year-old Geordie Shore star took to Instagram, where she shared the news that her c@r had been “pushed off the road” by a lorry. In a post on her stories, she held her head and added a picture of the lorry, which she said was involved in the incident.

“Never a dull moment,” she wrote in the accompanying caption. “A lorry just swerved into my c@r on the M25 and pushed us off the road. No one is hurt, and the traffic officers are here, but crikey. It was a bit intense. Wear your seatbelts, kids,” she concluded, followed by a love heart emoji. Thankfully, the fender bender won’t affect her performance in the launch show, where the celebrities will meet their pro partners, as it was already pre-recorded.

Vicky’s participation was revealed on ITV’s This Morning on Thursday (August 14) when she dramatically burst through a glittering paper, unveiling her identity to viewers at home.

At the time, she told presenters Emma Willis and Craig Doyle: “I’ve not got high hopes for my dancing, I’m a drinker, not a dancer, drunk auntie dancing is me.”

She also had her initial training interrupted when she left the UK for a sunny getaway with her loved ones. Taking to her Instagram stories, the children’s author confirmed her location with a scenic photo of her view and captioned: “Exploring [Greece flag emoji].

She re-shared an Instagram post from her “best friend,” captioned “Crete Sampra,22,” hinting that they had travelled to the Greek island of Crete.

However, the I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here winner has another week to perfect her dance moves, as the first live show will take place on Saturday, September 27.

Vicky is just one of 15 celebrities taking part in this year’s competition. She is joined by Olympian and Gladiators star Harry Aikines-Aryeetey aka Nitro, Love Island winner Dani Dyer, Doctor Who and ER star Alex Kingston, former footballer and football manager Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink and EastEnders Balvinder Sopal.

Also taking to the dancefloor is social media star George Clarke, drag icon La Voix, former rugby player Chris Robshaw, Vogue model and actor Ellie Goldstein and The Apprentice star Thomas Skinner.

The lineup is rounded off by Neighbours icon Stefan Dennis, Lorraine and Good Morning Britain’s Los Angeles correspondent Ross King, former Lioness Karen Carney, and former Emmerdale star Lewis Cope.

Netflix boss Ted Sarandos has heaped praise on Meghan Markle, describing her biopic with Prince Harry about their decision to step back from the Royal Family as “successful in every measure.” His comments on the Aspire with Emma Grede podcast mark the first time the Netflix boss has publicly spoken about the Duke and Duchess of Sussex since they renewed a deal with the streamer.

Mr Sarandos’s gushing comments about Meghan also comes after the second season of her cooking show, With Love, failed to reach a wide audience. In the podcast, Netflix’s chief executive hailed Meghan for having “remarkable influence” and praised her ability to sell out consumer goods featured in her show as he renewed his support for the controversial couple.

Her cooking show, which first aired in March, is paired with her online shop As Ever, which sells wine, jams, and other food products.

Mr Sarandos said: “One thing we learned early with Meghan… she has remarkable influence—remarkable. So when we did the documentary on her and Harry, the trailer, when we ran the trailer announcing it, people… hundreds of people… broke down every frame of the trailer.”

Netflix is an equity partner in her online shop, so gets a proportion of the profits.

Explaining the partnership, the Netflix boss said: “She has incredible power and influence. So that for me, it’s like okay well how can we enable this to be a more holistic thing. So that’s what that relationship is about.”

He went on to heap praise on Harry and Meghan’s tell-all Netflix documentary which aired in December 2022. “And by the way, the documentary itself,” Mr Sarandos added, “was also one of the most watched documentaries we’ve ever had.

“So it was very it was successful in every measure. Now I don’t think that you can have a consumer products business if you don’t have a great entertainment business. So that’s got to come first.”

Strictly Come Dancing’s Thomas Skinner has unleashed a furious tirade following his debut on the BBC show as he fumed, ‘I won’t be cancelled’.

He warned viewers not to ‘start a war they won’t win’ as he tried to clear his name from a number of stories swirling about him online. Acknowledging his extra marital affair, past arrests and questions over his character, Thomas said he would not be silenced in a fiery post to X.

It comes after fans questioned if Amy Dowden had been handed the ‘short straw’ after she was teamed up with Thomas. Some viewers said Amy looked downbeat already after landing the controversial star as her dance partner.

Thomas’ Strictly journey got off to rough start before he set foot ohn the dancefloor after he snatched the phone of a reporter during a day of press with the BBC. He then admitted to cheating on his wife Sinead just weeks after they got married, with his former mistress airing her side of the story. That was after outspoken Thomas had already raised eyebrows with his political leanings after he was pictured cosying up to US Vice President JD Vance – with many questioning if he was a good fit for the BBC family show.

Taking to X hours after the Strictly launch show aired on Saturday night, Thomas said he had seen people were ‘fuming’ he was on the line-up – but said the hate was only making him more determined to stay.

Addressing the backlash to his affair, Thomas said he was speaking out as his ‘poor wife’ was heartbroken to have to relive it as his time on Strictly put him under a huge spotlight.

He posted: “Life ain’t easy. I’ve been kicked down an called every name under the sun recently and probably some of it I deserve, as yes I ain’t always right. But since I got invited to have a BBQ with JD Vance….its gone crazy. Certain people are doing everythin they can to ruin me. Mainly Faceless accounts givin it large and abusing me, hypocrites making everything political,” he fumed.

“Now I see people are fumin’ that I’m on Strictly…. and the funny thing is that the majority of them got “be kind” wrote in their bios. You couldn’t make it up. Let me tell you this. I won’t be cancelled. I ain’t gonna kill myself like some of you want. I’m still here. I’m still standin,” he insisted.

Thomas went on: “Trust me when I say this; I am stronger than people think. Every insult, every lie, every attack….it don’t break me, it builds me stronger. I built what I got from nothing. I Slept on a pull-out bed on the floor for years cus I never had a bedroom. Weirdos write rubbish on Wikipedia about my upbringing that ain’t true, but they can’t take away what I’ve built with graft & fight.

“They call me a grifter, but all I do is work. Day in, day out, graft. And yes, all the political parties have come knockin wantin me to work with them from both the left and right. Yes I was always in trouble. But I’ve turned my life around. Yes I went to a private school cos I worked my arse off for a scholarship and my parents sacrificed everything.

Thomas Strictly partner Amy also spoke out after the launch so, as she heaped praise on her partner’s enthusiasm – downplaying any speculation she was unhappy with the pairing.

Amy penned: “The news is out! @iamtomskinner and I are excited and working hard rrrrrready for the first live show next Saturday! Tom is working so hard and is loving learning to dance ( more than he ever imagined). We are laughing lots too! Honestly Tom it’s been so lovely getting to know the really lovely, bubbly, full of life you this week. Thanks for a great week and so looking forward to our strictly journey ahead! Let’s do this,” she wrote on Instagram.

Thomas then replied: “Reallly really enjoyed training with you this week. You are honestly an amazing person and everything you have been through…. Shows how strong and inspiring you are. I promise I won’t let you down. I might not be the best dancer. But I promise I’ll be the hardest worker. Thank you for being so kind and lovely to me and I’ve enjoyed your company so much. I ain’t stopped laughing with ya. Can’t wait to get on that dance floor with ya next week,” he penned.

Katie Price revealed that she has been to hospital over her worrying weight loss in a health update on Snapchat over the weekend.

The mother-of-five, 47, has said she doesn’t know why she has been losing so much weight after sparking fan concern and has previously denied using weight loss medication.

While at the hospital, Katie said she needed to get some stitches removed after she cut herself with a knife while cooking a curry.

Speaking on her Snapchat Story, Katie claimed that she ‘doesn’t know why’ her frame is shrinking so much as she undergoes tests.

She began: ‘I’ve been up early at the doctors so she could do some bloods and because my veins are so s*** they had three attempts.

‘They could only fill two tubes up, so I’ve got to go back in two weeks.’

Katie added: ‘And I’ve got to have my stitches out then because they looked at my little stab wound that I did.

‘The reason I’m going to the doctors is because I keep losing weight and I don’t know why. So that’s that.’

The update comes just days after Katie sparked concern amongst her fans after revealing she spent the night in A&E after cutting herself.

Revealing the seriousness of the gory injury, she explained that the knife had ripped through her ligaments and nerves, leaving half her hand numb.

Katie shared several graphic photos showing the deep cut in her tattooed left wrist.

She also showed how it looked after it had been stitched back up in the hospital and posted a look at the long blade of the knife she’d been using.

Explaining the accident to her followers, she wrote: ‘Last night I accidentally stabbed myself with a knife, you can see on the injury how deep it was, and I had to have stitches’.

She posted a photo of an A&E sign lit up at night and wrote: ‘Not what I had on my Bingo card for Friday night.’

The ex-glamour model has left fans concerned over her slimmed-down figure for months, and previously addressed her drastic weight loss in May.

But back then, she had seemed pretty pleased about it, saying she had wanted to lose weight.

Speaking to fans on Snapchat, she said: ‘Yes I’ve lost weight. Yes that’s what I’ve wanted to do, I’ve wanted to lose weight.

‘Because… three, four years ago when I broke my feet I was in a wheelchair for ten months because they said I’d never walk again, and obviously you put weight on being in a wheelchair.

‘And then I did all the IVF stuff, that also puts on weight. So yeah, I did put on weight and I hated it, I felt uncomfortable and it wasn’t me.’

Speaking on The Louis Theroux Podcast last year, Katie explained that she has never been happy with her body.

She said: ‘I always said I haven’t got body dysmorphia but there’s definitely something, I don’t know what it is…

‘I’ve never looked in the mirror and thought I’m pretty or whatever.’

BBC Breakfast hosts Jon Kay and Sally Nugent interrupted Monday’s show to welcome back their co-star Carol Kirkwood, who had taken a few weeks off.

“Right, it is quarter past six. I’m delighted to say that Carol’s back with us this morning,” Jon beamed before turning to his co-star.

“Very delighted,” Sally chimed in before adding, “Morning, Carol.”

Jon went on, “Just as the sun comes out, you have come back.”

Carol laughed as she replied, “Timed that beautifully. Good morning, both, and good morning to you, too. It is lovely to be back.”

While Carol didn’t say where she had been, her co-star Matt Taylor has been filling in for her over the past few weeks.

The meteorologist took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to announce that Carol would be back on screens.

On Sunday, he wrote alongside a video clio, “My wonderful friend @carolkirkwood is back @BBCBreakfast tomorrow morning

“The fact that the sun is back after three weeks of rain (when I was on Breakfast duty) is PURELY COINCIDENTAL!”

In the video, he said, “Right, so I have just done three weeks of Breakfast. It has rained every single day.

“According to the Environmental Agency as well, across England, we had the wettest week of weather in around a year.

“Carol is back on Monday, blue skies out, drier week for most.”

Matt concluded the video by detailing this week’s weather forecast before telling his followers to “enjoy.”

The long hair and extensive assortment of tattoos were unmistakable as Pete Wicks wined and dined a mystery blonde during a night out in London – just days before confirming his relationship with Jowita Przystał.

Wicks, who had previously played down any romantic attachment to his former Strictly Come Dancing partner, surprised fans by sharing three very passionate kisses with the Polish ballroom professional at London’s O2 Arena on Friday evening.

The popular TV personality was hosting a live version of his Staying Relevant podcast with best friend Sam Thompson at the cavernous venue when Przystał joined him onstage to perform what would have been their Showdance, during which they appeared to confirm their romance.

But notorious lothario Wicks, 36, had less familiar but equally intimate female company while dining out at The Maine Mayfair earlier that week.

Przystał didn’t appear to be anywhere in sight as the reality TV regular shared a kiss with his blonde companion over a slap-up meal, in pictures obtained by The Sun.

A source told the publication: ‘They were intimate the whole time. You would think they were alone. Pete and his date arrived about 8.30pm. It was very intimate and they seemed really giddy.

‘At one point they disappeared midway through dinner for about 15 minutes. I think they thought they had the place to themselves.

‘The waiters just left them to it and the band just played as they kissed like teenagers. There were lots of leftovers by the time we left about 11:00pm.’

Separate sources have since confirmed the TV personality is ‘officially dating’ Przystał, having grown close on Strictly Come Dancing – while he was rumoured to be in the early stages of a romance with Maura Higgins.

An insider told the Daily Mail: ‘Pete and Jowita are now an item, they’ve been dating for a few weeks.

‘They kept things professional on Strictly, there was no crossover with Maura. But once Pete was single they grew close again and recently the relationship has blossomed into something more.

‘You could tell something is going on between them during their routine – it was extremely raunchy and dance partners don’t usually kiss quite like that.’

The former TOWIE star sent fans into a frenzy when he shared a gushing tribute to Przystał in honour of her birthday last month, leading some to question whether the post was him ‘hard launching’ their romance.

Wicks shared a sweet snap of himself and the ballroom professional in a dance studio on his Instagram Stories ahead of her return to Strictly Come Dancing.

Alongside the post, he wrote ‘It was never about dancing… it was about the person.

‘Happy birthday @jowitaprzystal – I am so blessed and grateful to have you in my life. My pocket rocket (love heart emoji).’

Wicks and Love Island star Higgins were first linked in August last year, but the former couple went their separate ways in February.

She was later seen kissing married McFly star Danny Jones at the BRIT Awards.

At the time, the TV personality distanced himself from the drama this caused by going on his already planned luxury holiday to Dubai.

A source told the Daily Mail: ‘Pete has moved on and couldn’t care less about Maura. He feels indifferent about the drama currently surrounding her.

Stacey Dooley broke down as she revealed how she was forced to undergo emergency surgery after suffering an ectopic pregnancy with partner Kevin Clifton last year.

The TV personality, 38, who already shares two-year-old daughter Minnie with the Strictly star, 42, spoke about the devastating loss during the latest episode of her show Stacey Dooley Sleeps Over.

Stacey was spending time with Barrie Drewitt-Barlow, Britain’s first legally recognised gay father and a supporter of commercial surrogacy who said it was important for him to have ‘beautiful’ children.

The TV host felt the opposite, and while alone she tearfully told the camera: ‘I have experienced what it is like to struggle to have a child, we obviously wanted to expand our family and last year I fell pregnant and it didn’t go brilliantly’.

‘It was ectopic, I am so sorry because this is so predictable. I am sat here crying on a bed. It was ectopic and it was really f***ing difficult’.

Ectopic pregnancy is a life-threatening condition which is the leading cause of maternal death in the first trimester of pregnancy. It occurs when an embryo grows in the fallopian tube, rather than the womb.

Stacey explained that she suffered an ‘internal rupture’ which left her needing emergency surgery.

‘Of course, when you go through something like that you are forced to think of alternatives. S*** happens and if you want a bigger family, you have to think how you’re going to do that’.

Stacey and Kevin met in 2018 when they were paired together on Strictly Come Dancing, going on to win the series and later confirming their relationship. They now live together in Nottingham with their daughter.

Earlier this year Stacey revealed she took her baby daughter to a brothel in Nevada, while she was filming a documentary about prostitution in the United States.

In the latest series of Stacey Dooley Sleeps Over USA she visited the oldest legal brothel in Nevada, the Mustang Ranch, to explore the lives of sex workers in the States.

But she has now revealed that her daughter, Minnie, came along for the visit, when she was just eight-months-old, joking ‘it sounds like a comedy sketch’.

Stacey recalled the story at the Hay Literary Festival in Wales, during a panel with journalist Emma Barnett, where she discussed how she juggled balancing motherhood and work.

The broadcaster explained that she brings her little girl along with her for filming – including to the more unusual locations.

According to The Telegraph, she admitted: ‘There’s nowhere that child hasn’t been. When she was eight months we had this gig in the diary to go to the States to make a documentary about this legal brothel in Nevada.

‘I’d sort of signed the contract and was like: oh, she’ll be eight months, that’ll be fine. Anyway, the trip comes, and I’m nowhere near comfortable leaving her so I take my eight-month-old child to this brothel in Nevada.

‘I have to ask the sheriff for special permission, because she’s under 18. It sounds like a comedy sketch, but it’s legit!’

Stacey explained that she had to rent a trailer for Minnie to stay in with dad Kevin and that the little girl would watch out the window while she was filming.

She hilariously recalled that when she returned to the trailer to breastfeed, the prostitutes at the brothel would greet her daughter with: ‘Morning Miss Minnie!’

The presenter quipped: ‘I’m like: she’ll be open minded if nothing else!’
