Sarah Ferguson Makes Bold New Move As Royal Family Faces Fresh Pressure
Sarah Ferguson may be using speculation about a tell-all memoir as leverage in private negotiations with the Royal Family, according to a royal historian.
The former Duchess of York has recently been linked to reports claiming she is close to signing a lucrative deal for a new book in which she would give her side of the story.
The Sun reported that Sarah was “days away” from agreeing terms for the project, reigniting concerns that another explosive royal memoir could be on the way.
However, her spokesperson has denied that a new memoir is being planned.
Royal Historian Questions Whether Book Will Actually Happen
Speaking to the Mirror, royal historian Andrew Lownie said he was not convinced Sarah would ultimately publish such a book.
“She has been touting a book for months, but I’m not convinced she will do it,” he said.
Lownie suggested there may be too much at stake for Sarah personally, particularly when it comes to her daughters, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie.
“She will not want to endanger the future of her children,” he said.
That concern, he argued, could make a full tell-all memoir unlikely.
‘Part of a Negotiation With the Royal Family’
Lownie then offered a different interpretation of why the memoir story may have surfaced.
“My instinct is that she has leaked the story as part of a negotiation with the Royal Family to take care of her,” he claimed.
That remains Lownie’s opinion and has not been confirmed by Sarah or representatives of the Royal Family.
His comments suggest he believes the publicity around a possible book could serve another purpose — signalling to Palace figures that Sarah still has a story to tell, even if she never ultimately publishes it.
Spokesperson Denies Memoir Reports
Despite the renewed speculation, Sarah’s spokesperson has pushed back against claims that a book is imminent.
Speaking to The Independent, the representative denied reports of a forthcoming memoir.
That directly complicates suggestions that a deal is close to being signed.
For now, there is therefore a clear gap between reports of negotiations and the official denial from Sarah’s side.
Another Royal Memoir Would Arrive at Sensitive Time
The timing has added to the attention surrounding the story.
The Royal Family has already faced renewed scrutiny following the publication of Earl Spencer’s book about Princess Diana.
Against that backdrop, another highly personal memoir linked to the wider royal family could generate fresh headlines.
The source suggests such a development would be particularly unwelcome for King Charles and senior royals.
But whether Sarah actually intends to move forward remains uncertain.

Lownie’s comments place Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie at the centre of the calculation.

That does not establish that a negotiation is taking place, nor that Sarah deliberately circulated the memoir rumours.
It is an interpretation offered by Lownie based on the current reports.
For now, Sarah’s spokesperson maintains that no memoir is planned, while speculation over a lucrative book deal continues.
