Sally Lockwood told her fans: “I’m leaving my job as a presenter at Sky News. It’s been a very tough decision after 7 very happy years.
“I’ll be relocating to the Middle East with my family and launching a new venture in journalism, in partnership with political powerhouse @tarapalmeri.
“You’ll still see me on TV, but our new show will be online. Details to follow!”
Sally emotionally added: “Thank you to the talented team at Sky for everything they’ve taught me and for all the unforgettable memories.
“It’s such a lucky job being trusted to tell people’s stories and to witness history firsthand. To do it with people you call friends, is an utter privilege.”
Sky viewers flooded Sally with messages of support, with one writing: “Good luck with the new venture Sally.”
A second replied: “Shame you’re leaving but best of luck with the move and everything. Look forward to hearing more about it!”
“Good luck in your future endeavours,” said a third fan.
While a fourth commented: “Whenever I see you, I always think of your reports from Italy at the start of Covid. Powerful TV.”
Sally is partnering with American political journalist Tara Palmer for a new online show State of the World.
The news comes after Sky News founding member and anchor Kay Burley quit the channel at the start of the year.
