Emmerdale actor Fred Kettle delivers HEARTBREAKING UPDATE on Dylan in ITV drama amid DEVASTATING new storyline for the young teenager

Dylan is back in the village – but for how long?
Emmerdale actor Fred Kettle has teased the future for his character Dylan amid a huge new storyline. Dylan first appeared on the ITV soap earlier this year as part of April Windsor’s story.
April ran away from home and lived on the streets, where she met Dylan. He protected her but was arrested and she didn’t see him for a long while, with her dad Marlon Dingle desperate to keep them apart, fearing he’d be a bad influence on the teen.
However, Dylan is now back in the village ahead of a devastating and heartbreaking storyline. Explaining where he has been, Fred told The Mirror and other press: “Since Dylan came out of rehab, he was supposed to be going to hostels to sort of rejuvenate and things, but everyone at the hostel is taking drugs and Dylan just wants to avoid that…
“He wants to take himself out of situations where he knows he’ll go back down.”

Things aren’t likely to go simple as soon Ray (Joe Absolom) arrives and there’s even more trouble ahead. Drug dealer Ray is an old friend of Mackenzie’s trying to flog farm machinery – but it is clear he has a much more sinister motive.
“It’s Ray that actually helps him. He sort of takes him under his wing and tries to help him get away from drugs. I think Ray’s trying to get him to gain a bit of trust. I feel like there’s a bit of a son and father figure relationship going on, so Ray can make Dylan do drugs, basically,” Fred explained of Dylan’s dynamic with Ray.
“Dylan knows he’s doing the wrong thing, but at the end of the day it’s better than what he was doing. Ray’s manipulating him, but it’s more morally correct than what he was doing on the streets.”
The show’s executive producer Laura Shaw previously teased Dylan would be back and inked to a villainous character, now revealed to be evil Ray. Warning there was trouble ahead, she said: “Lovely Fred Kettle, who plays Dylan, is coming back to the show. He’s going to be bringing his past back to the village with him.
“And that’s going to cause huge problems for April and the wider family there. We’ve got a couple of exciting new castings that are joining us for that story, but I’m not allowed to tell you who they are. Watch this space, because it’s very exciting.”
