Coronation Street stars Tony Maudsley and Jane Hazlegrove have shared heartfelt tributes to their beloved co-star Katy Cavanagh following the emotional exit of her character, Julie Carp.
In powerful scenes that aired last night, viewers watched as Julie, who had been battling a terminal illness, passed away peacefully after sharing a touching lakeside picnic with her sister, Eileen Grimshaw. The moment was both heartbreaking and poignant, marking the end of a character who had touched the lives of many in Weatherfield.
Tony and Jane took to social media to honour Katy’s work and the emotional depth she brought to Julie’s final storyline. Tony praised Katy’s “beautiful performance and undeniable warmth,” while Jane described the scenes as “utterly moving” and thanked Katy for “bringing so much heart” to the show.
Julie’s departure has left a noticeable void in the cobbles, and fans have joined the cast in mourning the loss of a character who brought light, humour, and heart to the street.

When Eileen left their picnic spot to grab something from the refreshment van, she returned to find her sister Julie unresponsive on the ground.
Julie actor Katy Cavanagh returned to the cobbles earlier this year as part of her on-screen sister Eileen’s exit storyline after nearly ten years away from the soap.
She first joined Corrie back in 2008 after enjoying a holiday romance with Kirk Sutherland. Following a rollercoaster time on the soap, Julie left Weatherfield in 2015.
