UTTERLY DISAPPOINTED: A Place in the Sun Host Laura Hamilton Shares Serious Issue on Channel 4 Property Show That Left Her Devastated
Laura Hamilton, the host of A Place in the Sun, has confessed to feeling frustrated by some “crazy” buyers during her tenure on the show.
Having been a part of the Channel 4 property programme for over a decade, Laura spoke about the “timeless” appeal of the show and its “perfect recipe” of sun, escape, people and property.
Each episode sees experts assisting brave UK house-hunters in their quest to find a property abroad. Yet, given the sunny premise of the show, it seems reasonable to assume there would be curiosity about the intentions of some participants.
In a recent interview, Laura was asked whether people join the show just to bag a free trip abroad. The 43-year-old presenter quickly dispelled this notion.
Speaking to Woman magazine, she said: “No! It’s a week’s work; it’s full on and busy. When someone comes on, they have no idea how TV works; they don’t know where they’re going; we keep everything a surprise.”
She added: “It’s a big decision. It’s not a holiday. If some people decide not to buy, I never get offended as it’s such a personal thing. These are big decisions.”
However, she did admit to one particular frustration regarding the guests, stating: “I have shown people houses and thought, ‘You’re not going to buy this? You’re crazy!’ But you have to respect people’s choices.”
Last month, Jasmine Harman, a fellow presenter on A Place In The Sun, shared an embarrassing anecdote from her career on the show’s YouTube channel. She recounted a “funny” incident involving a microlight.
Although she didn’t find it amusing at the time, she can now “look back on it” and laugh about the ordeal. Jasmine said: “It was when we were filming in a microlight and I had this very handsome, kind of Tom Cruise-esque pilot flying me. But I started to get a bit of motion sickness and ended up vomiting inside my helmet, I was very embarrassed.”
In other news, Laura Hamilton took to social media earlier this year to share some exciting news about the United Arab Emirates. She revealed that she’d been visiting Dubai over the past 12 months.
She stated: “You might have seen that from my stories and posts that I have been doing. I have been coming to Dubai for many years and when you do the job that I do you love exploring the world.”
Laura announced that she’d been “seriously looking” at the local property market, speaking with developers and exploring different areas. She then revealed that she’d purchased her “very own property here in Dubai, in Dubai marina”.
She concluded: “It’s a move that’s all about property, potential, and thinking internationally. A new investment in a place known for its sunshine, skyline, and serious opportunity.”
