Jayson Tatum celebrated a milestone last season by winning his first NBA trophy while leading the Boston Celtics to their record-breaking 18th NBA title. With Coach Joe Mazzulla at the helm, Tatum and teammate Jaylen Brown are determined to secure back-to-back championships, a feat last achieved by the Golden State Warriors in 2017 and 2018.

ESPN’s Brian Windhorst recently expressed concerns about the challenges the team might face in pursuing back-to-back titles. Despite this caution, Tatum remains unfazed. In a video with teammate Oshae Brissett, the Celtics star confidently silenced critics, stating that he’s already thinking about which finger will wear his next championship ring.

I was going pinky, but I went index. I’m gonna save the pinky for the next one,” Tatum said.

After a title-winning season that earned him his fourth All-NBA selection and a spot on the First Team for the third consecutive year, Tatum has seemingly shifted his focus from personal accolades to team success.

Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown Prepare for a Lighter Load

Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown faced immense pressure last season in their quest to lead the team to the NBA championship. However, with the Boston Celtics finally securing their long-awaited championship, the upcoming season might bring a bit of relief for the star duo.

On the Hoops Collective podcast, NBA insider Tim Bontemps expressed his belief that Tatum and Brown could face less pressure in the upcoming season.

“There’s obviously always pressure on Boston to win. But for this group that waited so long and fought through so many things to get over the mountaintop and finally win,” he said.

“I think there’s potentially going to be less pressure on Boston this year than last year now that they’ve won,” he added.

Last season, some critics suggested that the Celtics’ path to the Finals was easier because they lacked strong opponents. Tatum and Brown responded to this criticism by leading Boston to a dominant 4-1 victory over Luka Doncic’s Dallas Mavericks in the NBA Finals.

Let’s see if they can maintain their determination and silence the doubters again.
