Good Morning Britain viewers were outraged as part of the programme covered the danger of Labubu dolls. An urgent alert was issued to parents following the confiscation of nearly 600 dangerous counterfeit toys that posed serious risks to youngsters. Fake versions of toys were seized by trading standards officers in South Lanarkshire. The real dolls – which are currently at the centre of a viral celebrity craze – can sell for hundreds of pounds.

Juliet Dunlop explained: “They are hugely popular. Children want them, adults are collecting them, but demand is far outstripping supply.” Handling the fake dolls, Juliet noted an eye had fallen off one while another was missing a leg due. The reporter revealed hundreds of the fake versions had been collected in South Lanarkshire over the last few days.

“They look like the real deal but they are far from it,” she explained. “That is a really dangerous thing.”

Council member George Currie said: “They’re a counterfeit and quite dangerous. If you look at the way the packaging has been designed, it’s all about deceiving the consumer. And they’re not really getting a bargain, actually they’re getting resold toys.”

Parts of the toys often fall off the counterfeit version, which Currie noted was a “choking hazard” for children.

Viewers were furious over the segment, with many suggesting the show should focus on reporting serious news stories.

One sarcastically posted: “Well done everybody, fantastic p0lice work and journalism.”

Questioning the lack of coverage on the ongoing Israel-Gaza conflict, another said: “So everything good in Gaza?”

Also hitting out at the show, a fourth echoed: “Talk about dolls whilst this Labour govt shaft tax payers eh?! Now we find out Angela Rayner managed to skip paying the £40K that HER govt brought in for the rest of us selling our homes! Never mind party for the ppl-labour need to change their name to the party of hypocrites!”

Declaring they were switching off, a fifth wrote: “I’m not watching this.”

Another furious viewer added: “DOLLS!!!! I think there are far more dangerous things our children have to be fearful of these days. But no!! You talk about dolls !! This show honestly.”
