Commonwealth Games cleaner goes viral with ’10/10′ routine between events

One of the biggest stars of the Commonwealth Games this weekend wasn’t an athlete competing for a medal, but a cleaner entertaining the crowds between events.

CJ Miller has become an unlikely viral sensation after breaking into a series of energetic dance routines while cleaning the floor at Glasgow’s OVO Hydro between netball matches.

Rather than quietly carrying out his duties, Miller had hundreds of spectators cheering as he showed off an impressive range of moves, including the worm, the splits, twists and jumps.

Performing to Queen’s I Want To Break Free, the cleaner had the arena on its feet laughing, clapping and singing along while they waited for the next match to begin.

Footage of Miller’s impromptu performances has since gone viral across social media, with fans discovering his dance routines haven’t been limited to the netball. He has also been entertaining crowds during breaks in the gymnastics and basketball competitions.

It turns out Miller is no stranger to the spotlight. Speaking to Australian publication 7 News, he revealed he is a professional dancer, explaining that performing comes naturally to him.

His routines have won over viewers online, with many saying he deserved “10 out of 10 from the judges” for his moves, while others simply described the performances as “amazing” and “brilliant”.

Over on Reddit, one viewer joked: “Freddie Mercury would be so proud,” as another user stated: “Those splits were 10 outta 10.”

The dancing has become so popular that Miller has since appeared on Australian breakfast television to discuss his unexpected viral moment at the Commonwealth Games.

Speaking to Sunrise, he explained what inspired him to turn a routine cleaning job into a performance. “Well, you know what, I was hired to do a job and I thought, you know what, we’ll do it full send. We’ll send it full,” he said.

Miller also revealed the unlikely inspiration behind his dance routines was American rapper Cardi B.

The cleaner, who describes himself as a cleaner by day and dancer by night, joked that he felt the Commonwealth Games crowd needed something extra and that “Cardi B. That’s the one.”

Asked whether he ever imagined his performances would go viral and land him on Australian breakfast television, Miller admitted it never crossed his mind.

He explained: “No, I got up, you know, did the normal, got my Starbucks, contemplated life decisions, came into work and then there it was. There it was. And it’s been a wild 12 hours.”
