The show was thrown into chaos on Wednesday as Mark left Paul furious with his scathing insult when he was asked to open up about his feelings following a date with beautician Deanne.

But despite Mark visiting Paul in the following episode to apologise, Paul said he didn’t accept it.

Holding his hands in the air, Mark said: ‘I’m really sorry I offended you. It was unprofessional of me. I nearly got it wrong straight and I’m sorry.’

Not satisfied with his apology, Paul replied: ‘Okay alright, Mark. I appreciate what you said. That apology, I don’t accept.’

A clip shared to Instagram then sees Paul switch to a monologue where he explained: ‘While I commend Mark for coming in to apologise, I wouldn’t be doing my job unless I helped him to manage complex emotional situations in the future.’

It then flicked back to his meeting with Mark where he then further explained: ‘Do you know why I don’t accept that apology? A textbook apology is to acknowledge exactly how you believe we felt in that moment.

‘A true apology is, I own it. I’m sorry for how I made you feel. And I take 100% of the responsibility. And here is how I plan to repair the damage that I caused.’

To which Mark responded: ‘Right. I’m really sorry, Paul. I offended you. And I will try my utmost to be supportive and as helpful a co-worker as possible.’

Appearing over joyed, Paul said: ‘I can accept that. Thank you sir. I can accept that Mark.’

Opening up about how nervous Paul made him feel during the conversation, Mark confessed: ‘Oh thank f**k we’re back on track. My bum hole was flickering like a faulty street lamp.’

However, things then took a turn as Mark claimed he knew better than Paul and his fellow experts Anna Williamson and Dr. Tara Suwinyattichaiporn.

The professional quizzer told the experts: ‘We have just enjoyed each other’s company and sometimes there’s a little bit of overthinking it.

‘We’ve not been the master strategists that you are, but, let’s face it, we’re smarter than you!’

Paul, who also stars on Married At First Sight, hit back: ‘Do you know why you always insult us? Because your emotional intelligence is on zero.’

As Mark swiftly replied that he was ‘nice to the people that counts’ Paul followed up, telling him: ‘When you get nervous, you insult people.’

The awkward exchange continued as Mark continued that it was a sort of teaching response from him.

Irked by his comments, Paul swiped: ‘What you did right there, that’s contempt. You wanna be a teacher? Try being a damn student first!’

Later on, Mark reflected on the situation, telling the cameras: ‘I’ve upset Paul. I didn’t mean to but I don’t like talking about my feelings, especially in front of a lot of people.’

He then offered Paul an apology and the pair agreed to put the exchange behind them when Mark assured him that he was ‘genuine’.

Mark has recently lost a lot of weight, after ballooning to 29 stone at his heaviest.

After being diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes, he has since lost a whopping 10 stone and managed to do so from changing his diet and doing more exercise.

Last year, he revealed that he now has the same figure that he had when he was 18.

He told OK!: ‘I’ve got roughly the same physique as I had when I was playing rugby at 18 years old, but I’ve got less muscle so that might take it down even more.’

During filming for Celebs Go Dating Mark suffered from a hypoglycaemic attack – which is when your blood sugar drops to a low level.

‘I might have been a bit grumpy that night. I apologised to everyone after.’

Mark got diagnosed with the condition after a routine check-up.

Previously opening up how it happened, Mark told The Express: ‘I’ve got skin that doesn’t heal properly in my lower legs

‘A nurse looked at me and she asked, “Are you sure you are not diabetic?”

‘They took a test and she said, “‘Yes, you’re diabetic”.’
