Jay-Z has been accused of hiring “investigators” to offer people $10,000 to sue attorney Tony Buzbee in new court papers issued by Buzbee.

The rapper, whose real name is Shawn Carter, was accused of raping a 13-year-old girl alongside Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs in a lawsuit filed by Buzbee. Both Carter and Combs have vehemently denied the allegations.

In response, Carter filed an extortion lawsuit against Buzbee and later added a defamation claim to the lawsuit. Now, Buzbee has asked for a motion to dismiss the lawsuit in a new court filing, pointing to anti-SLAPP laws which aim to to provide a remedy to strategic lawsuits against public participation.

In the latest court documents, which have been obtained by The Mirror US, Buzbee alleged, “Multiple past and current employees and clients of the Buzbee Parties reported being approached by persons claiming to be ‘investigating’ the Buzbee Parties.”

The motion papers alleged the “investigators” claimed to be from “the state.” They’re said to have “flashed badges” while urging people to sue the Buzbee Parties.

The documents claimed the “investigators” even offered “payments up to $10,000 to do so.” The documents continued, “On information and belief, and based on information obtained from such conversations, these ‘investigators’ are associated in some way with Carter, and are part of an effort to harass and intimidate the Buzbee Parties.”

In a statement shared with The Mirror US, Buzbee added, “The case was nothing more than an effort to silence alleged victims. It is frivolous and should be dismissed.”

The Mirror US has approached Carter’s attorneys for comment. The latest update comes after Carter originally filed an extortion lawsuit against Buzbee as a John Doe on November 17. He later confirmed he was the plaintiff when he was named in the lawsuit accusing him of rape on December 8.

Buzbee then took to X to share a statement about the rapper, “Regarding the Jay Z case and his efforts to silence my clients: Mr. Carter previously denied being the one who sued me and my firm. He filed his frivolous case under a pseudonym. What he fails to say in his recent statement is my firm sent his lawyer a demand letter on behalf of an alleged victim and that victim never demanded a penny from him. Instead, she only sought a confidential mediation.”

He continued, “Since I sent the letter on her behalf, Mr. Carter has not only sued me, but he has tried to bully and harass me and this plaintiff. His conduct has had the opposite impact. She is emboldened. I’m very proud of her resolve. As far as the allegations in the complaint filed, we will let the filing speak for itself and will litigate the facts in court, not in the media.”

Buzbee previously told The Mirror US, “The conspiracy to discredit me and intimidate me from pursing claims in the Diddy litigation has become criminal. This latest case, like the others, is frivolous, laughable and ridiculous and will be dismissed along like the others. It now seems that every other day there is another false claim filed, all of which are being ginned up by individuals working on behalf of or in concert with Roc Nation.”

On December 20, Carter’s attorneys added the defamation claim against Buzbee, claiming Buzbee’s allegations against him are false and defamatory. The musician has denied the allegations made in the lawsuit filed by Buzbee alleging he raped a 13-year-old girl.

“My only heartbreak is for my family. My wife and I will have to sit our children down, one of whom is at the age where her friends will surely see the press and ask questions about the nature of these claims, and explain the cruelty and greed of people,” Carter said.

He added, “I mourn yet another loss of innocence. Children should not have to endure such at their young age. It is unfair to have to try to understand inexplicable degrees of malice meant to destroy families and human spirit. My heart and support goes out to true victims in the world, who have to watch how their life story is dressed in costume for profitability by this ambulance chaser in a cheap suit.”

The statement continued, “You have made a terrible error in judgment thinking that all ‘celebrities’ are the same. I’m not from your world. I’m a young man who made it out of the project of Brooklyn. We don’t play these types of games. We have very strict codes and honor. We protect children, you seem to exploit people for personal gain.”

Carter concluded, “Only your network of conspiracy theorists, fake physics, will believe the idiotic claims you have levied against me that, if not for the seriousness surrounding harm to kids, would be laughable. I look forward to showing you just how different I am.”
