TRUTH IN THE BACKGROUND: Five BOLD Theories Emerge Over Lewis’ REAL FATHER As Emmerdale Fans Spot CLUES That Suggest A HUGE TWIST Is Just Around The Corner

Emmerdale fans are convinced we already know Lewis Barton’s dad is. And in soap fashion, all of the suspects would bring quite a lot of drama.

Lewis finally made his appearance, and fans are already loving the brother dynamic between him and Ross. But with a lot of the focus being on Lewis learning more about his family, it feels inevitable that we will eventually learn who his dad is.

And in order for it to have a shock factor, Emmerdale could make it someone we know. And it seems there are quite a lot of characters already in the line-up.

Speaking on a Reddit thread, and speculating on X, fans discussed the possibilities. So let’s look at the options.
Could Liam have another child? ITV

1. Liam Cavanagh could be Lewis Barton’s dad in Emmerdale?

Liam Cavanagh seemed to be one of the main people in the lineup. When Lewis arrived, he was eager to speak to Liam and learn more about his allotment.

While it could have been down to his own interests, could there have been more to it? Fans have noticed their mannerisms and look are quite similar.

If Lewis is Liam’s son, then there brings a whole lot of questions about Liam’s relationship with Emma. And he would have to come to terms with having another child after losing Leanna.

One fan wrote: “I would love that. They have a similar look, similar interest. While I don’t like Liam, it would integrate both better into the village and give them wider connections. And it would be so sweet to see him get a second chance at fatherhood.”

2. Cain Dingle

Another popular theory is that Cain is Lewis’ dad – and had a secret connection to Emma that we never knew about.

Taking to X, one asked: “Is Lewis another spawn child from Cain?”

This one seems more unlikely, considering Emmerdale never mentioned Cain and Emma having a past before.

But if it was Cain, it would certainly bring quite a lot of drama at his and Moira’s door. However, they’ve had plenty of that recently, and with Nate’s body still to be found, they already have a lot more coming up.

3. John Barton could be the dad of Lewis in Emmerdale?

Now this would be a huge twist. Many fans think Moira’s ex-husband John could be the dad of Lewis.

John died in a car crash years ago, thinking he and Moira had three kids together. But it later came out that Adam Barton wasn’t his at all – instead he was the son of James Barton – John’s brother.

So all these years later, could Lewis be the catalyst of Moira discovering her husband did the exact same thing she did? It would certainly be a huge twist.

One fan theorised: “Convinced it will be John Barton. A role reversal for Adam.”

Another responded: “I think it will be. It would be a real Soap twist if Lewis’ father was John – Moira’s deceased ex husband.”

4. Caleb Miligan

While Emmerdale fans know this one seems unlikely, some are still convinced Lewis could be the product of one of Caleb’s affairs.

We know early on in Ruby and Caleb’s marriage, both had affairs on each other. So is it possible that Caleb and Emma’s paths crossed all those years ago?

While it’s entirely possible, many think it’s unlikely due to his current storyline with Ruby and Steph.

One fan penned: “Caleb would be likely as it could be one of his many affairs. Though I’m not sure if it would work with the sensitivity of the Ruby/Steph storyline.”

5. Declan Macey

Now, this one seems a bit out of the blue considering Declan hasn’t been in the show since 2014.  But because of that exact thing, it means if he had history with Emma – we wouldn’t know.

Declan was last seen during a very dramatic episode where he took Charity hostage and then ran away from the village after all of his crimes were outed. Then off-screen he divorced Charity.

One fan wrote: “Could be Declan Macey. Just throwing it out there. It would be another way to draw him back to the village.”

Another fan responded: “This isn’t a bad shout actually.”

Even if Lewis was Declan’s son, nobody seems to have been in contact with him in years, so it would be pretty hard to track him down. And if he came back to the village – what chaos would follow?
