Despite the former friends no longer having ‘regular contact’ – the music legend still takes her godmother role ‘very seriously’

TAYLOR Swift and Jaime King ‘do not speak’ regularly anymore – but the singer is still an ‘amazing’ godmother to her ex-friend’s son, Leo Thames, The U.S. Sun can reveal.

The Hart of Dixie actress asked the pop icon to be her youngest son, Leo’s, godmother in 2015 shortly before he was born – and back when the pair were still close pals.

Taylor, 35, and Jaime, 45, were regularly seen hanging out together in the mid-2010’s and frequently posted one another on their social media accounts.

Jaime’s ex-husband, Kyle Newman, even directed the music video for Style, the Grammy-winner’s hit from her 1989 album.

While Jaime and Taylor have not been photographed together in years, suspicions from fans have risen that they may not be friends anymore – something an insider has now confirmed to The U.S. Sun.

“Taylor and Jaime are not close anymore and don’t talk but there is still love,” a source close to the model said.

They claimed that Taylor still sends Leo gifts on special occasions, including his birthday, and would “be there in a heartbeat” if her godson ever needed anything.

“She has always taken her godmother role and duties very seriously and is the most caring and thoughtful person Jaime could’ve asked to be there for Leo.

“But their relationship is a lot different now than it was back when Jaime asked Taylor to be his godmother.

“There is no regular contact,” the source added.

Shortly after Jaime announced on Instagram that she had asked Taylor to be Leo’s godmother, she gushed about her friend’s new role: “She’s going to be, like, the best godmother in the whole world.

“I always thought if I were to have another child that she would be the ideal godmother because the way she not only treats me but the way she treats other human beings.

“She’s so loving and so giving and so generous and she does everything from her heart and she’s incredibly brave and authentic.

“It’s a very rare thing to come across.”

Taylor also got candid in rare public comments about her special role and opened up about how being a godmother made her think “differently” about life.

During the 1989 world tour in 2015, Taylor told the crowd at Santa Carla’s Levi’s Stadium that her 2010 heart-wrenching song, Never Grow Up, had an entirely heightened meaning with Leo now in her life.

“I wrote [Never Grow Up] when I was like 18 or 19 but my friend just had a baby and she made me godmother of it and I was holding this little baby the other night and I was just thinking differently.

“When you’re holding onto something that’s so innocent and so perfect and has no idea what’s coming for it with the world.

“The world is going to throw so many things at you as we grow up,” she said mid-concert before playing the piano ballad.

Video from the emotional moment spread online at the time, with Jaime reposting it and captioning it: “This is so beautiful Tay. Leo Thames is so blessed.”

When Taylor met Leo Thames for the first time, she shared a photo holding his tiny hand and used a lyric from Never Grow Up as caption for the post.

“Your little hand’s wrapped around my finger and it’s so quiet in the world tonight…” Taylor wrote alongside the photo of Leo and Taylor’s hands intertwined.

Jaime has been struggling in recent years – which reached an ultimate blow this week when a Los Angeles County judge ruled that her ex-husband Kyle, 49, was awarded full sole physical custody of their two sons.

Making communication even more limited, a judge has ruled that Jaime is only allowed to spend four hours a week with the kids – and all time spent with her sons must be supervised.

Jaime is permitted to spend two hours with them on Tuesday’s from 4:30-6:30pm as well as Thursdays from 3:15-5:15pm.

She is permitted to FaceTime the kids on non-visitation days however, the calls are not able to exceed 20 mins.

Jaime is also only able to make video calls between 5:00-6:30 pm – and is not allowed to call on Monday’s or Saturday’s whatsoever.

The court ruling came after Jaime failed to complete a series of programs she was court-ordered to partake in when the couple first filed for divorce in 2020.

According to court papers, Jaime failed to complete a 6-month drug/alcohol program that includes weekly drug testing.

She also did not complete an ordered 12-step program, 26-week parenting program, individual counseling, or conjoint counseling with the kids’ therapist, documents state.

Following her recent troubles which have resulted in her “struggling” with her finances, The U.S. Sun exclusively revealed that Jaime was forced to move out of her $10,000-a-month rental.
