The internet is making all sorts of money-related jokes toward Minnesota Vikings quarterback following his horrendous performance in Monday night’s Wild Card Round defeat at the hands of the Los Angeles Rams.
Sam Darnold’s career year led the Vikings to 14 wins and a return to the postseason in 2024, but it ended with an all-time thud: A thud that saw Darnold take nine sacks and cough up the football twice in a 27-9 loss.
Folks wanted to see how Darnold, who signed a one-year deal with the Vikings last offseason, would perform in the postseason ahead of free agency. Unfortunately, Darnold’s ugly performance certainly will have costed him tens of millions of dollars.
And social media let him hear it:
“Sam Darnold when I put hard-earned US currency on him,” one fan wrote with a GIF of Darnold as a New York Jet.
The Rams will travel to Philadelphia to take on the second-seeded Eagles at Lincoln Financial Field on Sunday.
Sam Darnold Cost Himself Dearly
As great as Darnold’s 2024 regular season was, his inability to perform in any aspect on Monday night definitely cost himself big money for 2025. It already feels like the Vikings will move forward with 2024 first-round pick JJ McCarthy as opposed to pouring in cash on a QB who fell apart at the worst possible time.
