Al Michaels Made An Embarrassing Mistake On Live TV That He Was Forced To Correct During Eagles-Giants ‘Thursday Night Football’ Game [VIDEO]

Legendary NFL commentator Al Michaels made an embarrassing blunder during the Philadelphia Eagles-New York Giants contest on ‘Thursday Night Football.’

Al Michaels and Kirk Herbstreit were in the broadcast booth for the Giants-Eagles prime-time game at MetLife Stadium. The duo have been together in the ‘TNF’ broadcast booth since 2022, when Amazon Prime Video took over the Thursday night packages.

During the first quarter, Michaels incorrectly stated that the Giants traded star running back Saquon Barkley, when he actually signed with the archrival Eagles as a free agent in the 2024 offseason.

“I said a trade; he signed as a free agent,” Al Michaels said for clarity. “The Giants only wish they’d gotten something for him.”

The Giants curiously decided to hold onto Barkley through the 2023 trade deadline, only to watch him walk to free agency. He signed a three-year deal worth $37.75 million with the Eagles, joining the 2K club and winning Offensive Player of the Year honors before leading Philly to a Super Bowl 59 championship.

If it makes Michaels feel better, Herbstreit also made a mistake on ‘TNF’ two weeks ago when he said that Kyler Murray was part of the 2018 NFL Draft class. Murray was actually drafted by the Arizona Cardinals with the No. 1 pick in 2019.
