Last year, Reid signed a multi-year extension that keeps him with the Chiefs through the 2029 season.

But after rumors about his future, Reid confirmed that he will not retire from the NFL after the Super Bowl 59 defeat.

This week, while at the NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis, Reid shared the guidance his parents told him about when the time will be right for him to retire.

“I [asked], ‘Why did you retire when [you got to that 65 age?'” he recalled a moment with his parents during an interview with CBS Sports.

“They said, ‘You’ll just know. You’ll know when the time is.’

“And I go, ‘Oh okay.’ I know it’s not now, so that’s not today.”

Social media users reacted to Reid’s further confirmation that he will not leave the game after 26 seasons as an NFL head coach.

“They dont make them like Coach Reid any longer! What a stud,” one wrote.

Andy Reid is a competitive guy or he wouldn’t be a coach,” another commented.

“You gotta love Big Red,” a third said.

Reid’s answer came after he was asked if he cares about owning the all-time head coach wins record.

Miami Dolphins icon Don Shula has an all-time best 328 wins, followed by George Halas (318) and Bill Belichick (302).

Reid trails the three legends with 273 wins to his name.

“If you asked me how many wins I have right now, I couldn’t tell you,” Reid said.

“I don’t care about all that. I’m in this to teach.”

It’s clear that Reid’s mind is focused on winning a Super Bowl for the fourth time in seven seasons in 2025.

He almost made history by becoming the first coach to lead a Super Bowl three-peat.

But the Eagles squashed those dreams, beating Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs by a score of 40-22 on February 9.
