The BBC has been hit with criticism after the latest Strictly Come Dancing contestant was announced. The broadcasters shared that Love Island star Amber Davies will be joining the ballroom competition after Dani Dyer was forced to leave the show as she suffered a horrific injury.
Amber has just started rehearsals with her partner Nikita Kuzmin, who had been teamed up with Dani. On joining Strictly Come Dancing, Amber Davies says: “This has been the craziest 24 hours of my life. I’ve watched Strictly with my family since I was younger and to now be part of the show is a dream come true. I’m going to give it my all and I am sending Dani well wishes for a speedy recovery. I hope I do her proud.” The BBC show shared the update with fans on social media, as they wrote: “Amber Davies is joining the #Strictly Class of 2025! The actor, podcaster, Love Island winner and West End star will dance in the famous ballroom on tomorrow night’s first live show of the series.”

But rather than showing excitement, fans commented with complaints as they said the move was a “fix”. One fan fumed on X/Twitter: “A trained dancer!!! This show has lot the plot in every area. Needs a total reset.”
Another said: “At least Nikita will get a partner. Love Island winner….really? Not exactly a celebrity, but saying that….not many are this series. Plus she’s already a trained dancer – hopefully she’ll be voted off quickly.”
However, others defended the BBC’s decision. One said: “Think someone with dance experience was the only fair way to give Nikita a partner. Wouldn’t be fair on someone with no experience to have only a few days training.”

Another echoed: “I don’t want to watch 10 weeks of ‘celebrities’ who are stiff as a board. There’s always been people with dance experience as long as the show has been on.”
Someone else sat on the fence, as they penned: “I’m looking forward to seeing the dances that Nikita will choreograph for Amber as she is such an experienced dancer.
“Even though I think she is too experienced to be in Strictly, the dances will be amazing as they were with Layton. Great to watch. #strictly.”
