During the first half, Philadelphia scored 24 points while also shutting out the Chiefs.

The eventual Super Bowl MVP Jalen Hurts and the Eagles didn’t look back, as Kansas City was dominated on both sides of the ball throughout the contest.

While Patrick Mahomes, who threw two interceptions in the first 30 minutes, including a pick-six, has gotten blasted for his performance, Reid has also gotten blame.

ESPN star personality Stephen A. Smith is among those who believe the three-time Super Bowl-winning head coach Reid should be at fault for the offensive showing.

“There is no excuse for a man known for being a damn good playcaller,” Smith said.

“This is all-time (bad). Your quarterback, who is considered one of the top quarterbacks in the history of the game, had a QBR of 1.

“I don’t care how bad Patrick Mahomes is, he ain’t that damn bad.

“On his worst day, he could be better than that.

“There were contributions, from someone else on Kansas City, to contribute to that performance. And it’s Andy Reid.”

“This is going to stick with him for a long time.”

Smith’s comments won’t bother Reid, who admitted that he, the team, and his fellow coaches weren’t prepared to face the Eagles.

“Compliment to our fans and all the support they’ve given us,” Reid said after Super Bowl 59.

“Today was a rough day, didn’t really play well in any of the phases, didn’t coach good enough. They did a nice job.”

Still, the 66-year-old Reid gave the team his full support, despite the disappointing showing.

“I’m proud of our guys though, the battle and the fight they put in throughout the year, all the games that they played here over the last few years,” he said.

“My hat goes off to the guys for that.”

Reid is set to return to the Chiefs in 2025.

“Yes, I’ll be back,” the future Hall of Famer said before the Super Bowl.

Reid is believed to have signed a new five-year contract worth close to $100 million in 2024, which includes several bonuses and incentives.

As a result, he could stay with the squad up until the 2029 season.

Reid will look to win a third Super Bowl in four years in 2025.
