Boxing has always been that heavyweight champ of global sports, raking in serious cash and pulling fans from every corner of the world. And now, Netflix—after owning the OTT game—is sliding into the sports ring like it’s nothing. They’ve already snatched up WWE and NFL content, and after the massive buzz from Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson, they’re not slowing down. Word on the street is they’re setting their sights on blockbuster matchups like Canelo Alvarez vs. Terence Crawford and Tyson Fury vs. Anthony Joshua.
Netflix is making it clear they’re here to shake up boxing for real. Fresh off the hype of Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson, the streaming giant isn’t tapping out anytime soon. With Katie Taylor vs. Amanda Serrano 3 locked in for July 11 at Madison Square Garden, Netflix is now eyeing two of the biggest fights the sport could offer in 2025.
According to Chris Mannix, Netflix is going all-in on boxing’s blockbuster scene, with sources saying they’re targeting Canelo Alvarez vs. Terence Crawford and the long-awaited Anthony Joshua vs. Tyson Fury clash. If they pull this off, Netflix might just become boxing’s new favorite corner.

For anyone out of the loop, Canelo vs. Crawford is already a done deal for September under the Riyadh Season banner, thanks to Turki Alalshikh. This dream matchup between two pound-for-pound kings is set to go down later this year—and it gets even bigger if Canelo takes care of business against William Scull on May 3 in Saudi Arabia. If he wins, the fight with Crawford will have the undisputed super middleweight title on the line.
Meanwhile, Fury vs. Joshua has been one of boxing’s ultimate dream fights for years, and with both guys coming off tough losses, this might actually be the perfect moment to make it happen. The stakes are still massive, the rivalry is alive, and with their legacies on the line, now feels like a “now or never” situation. If Netflix really lands this one, it could break the internet. Safe to say, 2025 might belong to Netflix, but 2024 is looking like the year of boxing royalty.
