The news continues to get worse for Mark Sanchez.

Albert Breer Discusses Raiders STRUGGLES

Sanchez went from being charged with battery with injury, public intoxication, and unlawful entry of a vehicle following his arrest in Indianapolis on Saturday to charges being upgraded to a felony charge of battery involving serious bodily injury.

At the time, he went from all misdemeanors to a charge that could result in a potential sentence of up to six years in prison. Now, the years have gone up.

The Fox Sports analyst and former NFL quarterback was arrested at an area hospital where he was being treated for stab wounds, hours after an altercation with a 69-year-old truck driver.

In the documents, the truck driver said that he thought the former quarterback was “trying to kill him,” so he pepper-sprayed him before he would stab him, since the spray had little effect.

Mark Sanchez could now face 16 years in prison, according to prosecutors.

Prosecutors upgraded the charges against Sanchez on Monday, hitting him with a felony battery rap. He’s also charged with public intoxication and unlawful entry into a motor vehicle.

Prosecutor Ryan Mears revealed this week that he suggested Sanchez’s battery charge could be upgraded to a Level 3 felony.

Asked if Sanchez could face even more serious charges due to his behavior, Mears added: ‘Yeah, so one of the things in the state of Indiana is you can actually upgrade the battery charge from a Level 5 felony to a Level 3 felony if you have what is known as permanent or protracted loss,’ he told NewsNation.

‘You’re looking for a healthcare provider – a doctor, in particular – to be able to provide that diagnosis and say: what’s the long-term impact of these injuries and how is that going to impact the victim?

‘So those are our conversations we’ll have with the treating physicians – the doctors involved with this case – that’ll help us make that ultimate charging decision.’

President Donald Trump broke his silence on the situation this week, calling Sanchez, “a nice guy.”

He added that “something a little crazy” happened to the former Jets quarterback.

In the meantime, Sanchez is looking at a real possibility that he will lose his job because of this entire situation.
