GB News presenter Camilla Tominey interrupted her Sunday show to deliver breaking news that Prince William had posted a rare childhood photo with Princess Diana for Mothering Sunday
GB News host Camilla Tominey interrupted her usual programming this morning to share breaking news concerning Prince William.
She halted her usual broadcast to share that the Prince of Wales had posted a never-before-seen image of his late mother, Princess Diana, dating back to 1984, to mark Mother’s Day with his online followers. The heartfelt message accompanying the sweet snapshot of a two year old William alongside Diana read: “Thinking of all those who are remembering someone they love today.”
Camilla informed viewers: “Breaking news, Prince William has posted a previously unseen photograph of himself and his mother, Princess Diana, to mark Mothering Sunday.
“The caption reads, ‘Thinking of my mother today and every day. Thinking of all those who are remembering someone they love today. Happy Mother’s Day. W.'”.
The broadcaster went on: “This year would have been his mother’s 65th birthday. The photo shows a young Prince William in a field of flowers, taken at Highgrove in 1985.
“And on that note, may I wish all the mothers a very happy Mother’s Day – I look forward to getting back to my own home, where I am sure my beloved children will have emptied the dishwasher and tidied up for me.”
Diana tragically lost her life at just 36 years old in a car accident in Paris in 1997, plunging the world into grief, reports the Express. The cherished Princess’s sons, William and Prince Harry, were merely 15 and 12 years old when she died.
Over the years, both have opened up about their deep affection for their mother and the heartache of her loss. William has spoken about how he tells his own children – George, Charlotte and Louis – about their late grandmother, and how he has followed in her footsteps with a lot of his charity work, particularly with homelessness charities.
In the 2017 documentary Diana, Our Mother: Her Life and Legacy, William spoke candidly saying he is committed to ensuring his children know all about their late grandmother. He expressed his desire for his kids to “know who she was and that she existed” and shared how he “constantly” talks to his children “about Granny Diana” at bedtime so that they know “there are two grandmothers in their lives”.

“We’ve got more photos up around the house now of her and we talk about her a bit,” the future king said. He added: “It’s hard because obviously Catherine didn’t know her so she cannot really provide that level of detail, so I regularly put George and Charlotte to bed, talk about her and just try to remind them that there are two grandmothers, there were two grandmothers in their lives. So it’s important that they know who she was and that she existed.”
The Royal Family’s official X account also posted a Mother’s Day tribute featuring a collection of black and white photographs of the late Queen Elizabeth II, with the message: “Wishing Mothers everywhere, and those who might be missing their Mums today, a restful Mothering Sunday.”
