Prince Harry breaks silence on King Charles after ‘private’ meeting at Clarence House
Harry has been in the UK since Monday
Prince Harry visited Clarence House in London on Wednesday as he finally had a meeting with his father, King Charles, in the UK.
The Duke of Sussex, 40, made his return to Britain on Monday (September 8), for the first time since his failed court hearing over the level of his UK security protection back in the spring.
The main purpose of his latest visit was to attend the WellChild Awards, which took place in London on Monday evening. This week, Harry has also made several visits to charities he supports.
But speculation has been rife over whether Prince Harry and his father would meet up amid the reported royal rift. And it has finally happened!

Prince Harry has meeting with King Charles at Clarence House
On Wednesday (September 10), Prince Harry arrived at Clarence House, King Charles’ London residence, at around 5:20pm (BST).
Buckingham Palace later confirmed that Harry and Charles did meet “for a private tea”.
It’s understood that Harry spent 55 minutes inside Clarence House, meeting with his father.
The pair are not believed to have seen each other since last February, after the king announced his cancer diagnosis. At the time, Harry flew back to the UK to see his father.
After the meeting this week, Harry had an event to attend. He attended an Invictus Games reception in the Swiss Re building, known as the Gherkin, in London.
As he arrived, he was asked how the king was. According to The Times, Harry replied: “Yes, he’s great, thank you.”
When did King Charles return to London?
Earlier this week, reports suggested that King Charles was returning from Scotland to London. He returned on Wednesday, arriving at Clarence House shortly before Harry.
In royal tradition started by Queen Victoria, King Charles, 76, spent his summer up at Balmoral Castle in Aberdeenshire, Scotland.
As has become their custom, himself and Queen Camilla attended the annual Braemar Gathering earlier this week. It’s one of the last Highland games of the summer circuit.
Then on Monday, he spent his Accession Day, the anniversary of him officially becoming king, at Balmoral.

Harry’s plea over family reconciliation
In May 2025, Prince Harry sat down with the BBC and issued a plea to his family. After he stepped back from royal duties in 2020 with his wife, Meghan Markle, the pair spoke out about their time within the monarchy in a series of tell-all TV appearances.
Then in 2023, Harry released his memoir, Spare, which also contained allegations and details about the royal family. Since then, it’s said that his relationship with his father Charles and brother, Prince William, have been strained.
He told the BBC earlier this year: “I would love a reconciliation with my family. I don’t know how much longer my father has. He won’t speak to me. But it would be nice to reconcile.”
Have the beginning stages of a possible reconciliation between Harry and Charles finally taken place? Only time will tell…
