Davina McCall’s My My Mum, Your Dad scrapped by ITV for brutal reason
Former Big Brother host Davina McCall has fronted the reality TV show My Mum, Your Dad in recent years but it’s been reported that ITV’s decided to shelve plans for a third series
A reality TV show fronted by Davina McCall has reportedly been paused.
A third series of My Mum, Your Dad – which launched as a dating show for single parents just two years ago – is said to have been shelved by ITV due to a shortage of middle-aged fathers who “fitted the bill”. It has been reported that the new series had been due to start filming later this year.
The broadcaster is said to have made the decision to “park” the show, at least for the moment, in the hope that more applicants become available. The news comes just four months on from the second series airing in September last year, following My Mum, Your Dad’s debut series in 2023.
Speaking about the dating show, a source has told the Sun: “Strangely there were lots of stunning women in the 45 to 65 bracket who wanted to take part, but a sad dearth of men who fitted the bill.” They went on to claim that producers encountered the same “problem” last year whilst working on the second series of My Mum, Your Dad but said that bosses “just about managed” to find “enough candidates” then.
They concluded by saying that it became “too difficult” to find candidates for the potential third series of the reality TV show though. The source said: “But when it came to the third outing they realised it was just going to be too difficult, and decided taking a break might be the best option.”

A spokesperson for ITV told the outlet that My Mum, Your Dad achieved a “fantastic audience response” over its two series and continues to deliver a “strong performance” on the streaming platform ITVX. The spokesperson added in a statement to the Sun: “There are currently no plans for a new series in 2025 owing to other priorities in our schedule, but we may revisit the show at some point beyond that.”
My Mum, Your Dad launched on ITV and ITVX in September 2023, with presenter Davina, 57, acting as its host. The show introduced viewers to a group of single parents – who had been nominated by their own children – who then spent time together at a country house retreat to see if romances would develop between any of them. The first series consisted of ten episodes that aired on ITV over two weeks.
More recently, the show – which has drawn comparisons to Love Island – returned for its second series in September last year, with a host of new parents meeting at the property in West Sussex for the experience. The series again aired over two weeks and had ten episodes.
