‘Not going well’, $20 million Super Bowl winner set to quit Kansas City Chiefs with contract extension talks collapsing

But the Chiefs are looking to bolster their team elsewhere

KANSAS CITY CHIEFS star Charles Omenihu hinted he could be looking towards free agency.

Defensive end Omenihu was signed through the 2024 season and has reached career earnings of $20 million.

But contract extensions appear to have stalled, per reporter Matt Lane.

“Seems like some negotiations in KC may not be going super smoothly,” he posted.

Omenihu – a Super Bowl winner in 2023 – himself cast doubt over his future in Kansas in a now-deleted post on X.

“But I’m done see yall Monday I finally get to experience (free agency) the right way this time much love from NINEO,” he wrote.

Elsewhere, the Chiefs are working on beefing up their offense for 2025.

After the embarrassing loss in the Super Bowl, the Chiefs are looking to make sure it never happens again.

The Chiefs are losing multiple wide receivers to free agency, and the group wasn’t extremely productive in 2024.

However, one of the league’s best pass catchers is now available in the trade market.

The Seattle Seahawks’ DK Metcalf requested a trade this week, and the team is expected to entertain in.

On the back of that, it seems that the Chiefs are interested in striking a deal for him.

According to Seahawks reporter Corbin Smith, Kansas City is monitoring Metcalf’s situation.

Metcalf would be a massive upgrade for the Chiefs, as he has proven to be a franchise cornerstone for the Seahawks.

Across his six-year career, Metcalf has 6,324 yards and 48 touchdowns.

He is a physical specimen as well, standing at 6-foot-4 and weighing 235 pounds.

Metcalf is also extremely quick for his size, running a 4.33 second 40-yard dash at the 2019 NFL combine.

The Chiefs haven’t had a 1,000-yard receiver outside of Travis Kelce (who is a tight end) since Tyreek Hill left the team in 2022.
