Kay Burley has responded to This Morning’s Camilla Tominey after a scathing article mocked her Sky News exit. The veteran broadcaster fired back on social media.

Kay Burley has responded to comments made by a ‘This Morning’ presenter regarding her departure from Sky News.

Kay, who left Sky News after more than three decades, addressed the remarks during a recent interview. In an online news article in Camilla Tominey, a regular guest on This Morning for news discussions, remarked that “some might say good riddance” and compared her resilience to that of her facelift.

Since Camilla shared the article online, the pair have become involved in a bitter social media row after Kaye stated that she would be taking time off work commitments to pursue her other passions. Reacting to Camilla, Kay took to social media and wrote: ‘#Sweetie ⁦@CamillaTominey⁩ as the late, great Madeleine Albright said, there is a special place in hell for women who don’t support other women.’

Part of Camilla’s article read: “Some may say good riddance but like her or loathe ‘Hurley Burley’, you can’t fault the 64-year-old’s staying power. As resilient as her facelift, part of Burley’s appeal was her imperviousness to criticism. TV’s answer to Liz Truss, she let every gaffe wash over her like lettuce in a salad spinner,” she wrote for The Telegraph.

Kay, who was a staple on the broadcaster’s breakfast show weekdays from 7am until 10am, announced she was leaving earlier this week while live on air – and shared that the show would be her last.

“But after over a million minutes of live TV news – more than anyone else in the world – its time for me to indulge in some of my other passions – including my love for travel. So, after covering 12 separate general elections – including Sir Keir Starmer’s victory last year – I am retiring from Sky News – let politicians of every party just rejoice at that news!

Following her exit, betting site BetIdeas has named several potential successors. Currently leading the odds at 3/1 is Sarah-Jane Mee, a familiar face on Sky News. Mee presents The UK Tonight and regularly anchors the channel’s weekday coverage. She is also known for hosting Saturday Night Football on Sky Sports.

Close behind her is Sophie Ridge, another Sky News presenter, with odds of 5/1. Ridge, who has been with the network since 2001, previously hosted Sophie Ridge on Sunday, a weekly political show that aired from 2017 to 2023. Other names in the mix include former Good Morning Britain host Piers Morgan and Channel 5 presenter Dan Walker.
