The Chase has had to delay filming after one of the popular show’s Chasers was taken to hospital. Dark Destroyer Shaun Wallace revealed he is in hospital and is desperate to get back to the production.

The 65-year-old boffin required a knee replacement operation. Now, he is determined to “make up” for lost time as he prepares to return to the studio on March 17.

Speaking on the Royal Kennel Club podcasts, Shaun said: “We’re filming now but I’ve just had knee replacement surgery.

“I had that three weeks ago, I’ve been training every single day to make sure I can physically walk up and down the plank when I go back on March 17th – as I’ve got to make up my own recording time I’m in virtually every day from then and we start the exciting new concept of Chase Around The World throughout the whole of May, I’m really looking forward to that one.”

Shaun has been a part of The Chase since day one in 2009. He is also set to feature in the filming for new ITV show Chase Around The World in May. It will see teams race each other in pairs. Along the way, they will unravel cryptic conundrums and find buried clues in a bid to find the Chasers.

Speaking of the new spin-off series, Bradley Walsh said: “This bold new take on The Chase combines quizzing with travelling and will test contestants’ knowledge like never before.

“The Chasers are already famous around the world, so fans can look forward to seeing them ply their trade in some superb secret locations.”

It’s far from the first spin-off show for the popular quiz. There has also been a number of The Chase: Celebrity Specials, which first began in 2011. The Family Chase debuted in 2017.

Other takes include Beat The Chasers and a special spin-off called The Chasers’ Road Trip: Trains, Brains and Automobiles.

Bradley, Shaun and fellow Chaser Mark ‘The Beast’ Labett remain the show’s original members. They remain key figures on the show today, alongside Anne Hegerty, Paul Sinha, Jenny Ryan and Darragh Ennis.
