Good Morning Britain presenter Kate Garraway has embarked on an exciting new venture with the launch of DXB Unheard,

an eight-part series that aims to uncover the lesser-known stories and hidden gems of Dubai.

The series, which premiered on February 10, offers a fresh perspective on the dynamic city,

bringing to light the personal triumphs, cultural influences, and remarkable experiences of those who call Dubai home.

A Deeper Look Into Dubai’s Rich Tapestry

Kate Garraway, 55, has visited Dubai multiple times, but through this series, she aims to highlight aspects of the city that often go unnoticed.

Speaking about DXB Unheard, she shared her enthusiasm for the project, explaining how it provides an opportunity to showcase a different side of Dubai.

“In this series, I get to introduce you to people who want to open your eyes and your mind to another Dubai—the one that is unheard of,” Kate said. “It’s a place where East meets West, where women can and do lead the way, where science is saving resources, and selflessness is saving lives.”

She emphasized how the show has allowed her to gain a new understanding of Dubai, not just as a global destination but as a place where people from diverse backgrounds live, work, and thrive together.

“I’ve been to Dubai a few times, but it was through these conversations in people’s homes, restaurants, offices, and places of cultural significance that I’ve really been able to understand a different side of Dubai,” she explained. “It’s so special to learn more about how the people of Dubai—both those who were born and raised there and the expats—contribute to this incredible city.”

Exploring the Lives of Inspirational Individuals

Each episode of DXB Unheard introduces viewers to extraordinary individuals who have made a significant impact in Dubai. Among the featured guests is Bakhita Al-Muhairi, who made history as the first Emirati female commercial pilot, and former England rugby player Mathew Tait. Their stories, along with others, will provide a deeper insight into the city’s evolving landscape.

The first episode of the series shines a spotlight on expatriate Isobel Abulhoul OBE, the founder, advisor, and trustee of the Emirates Literature Foundation. Isobel’s journey to Dubai began in the 1960s when she moved from the UK to start a new life with her Emirati husband.

“I left the UK to start a new life with my Emirati husband,” Isobel shared. “I had little idea of what to expect, but I knew that there were so many stories just waiting to be told. I wanted to create spaces for readers and writers alike to celebrate the joy of literature.”

Reflecting on the changes she has witnessed over the past five decades, Isobel highlighted Dubai’s transformation into a thriving cultural hub.

“So much has changed over the past 50 years, and the UAE’s literary scene has developed dramatically from when I first touched down on that small runway all those years ago,” she explained. “Dubai is a cultural hub for literature, and I hope listeners come away from the series keen to discover Dubai’s unique stories for themselves.”

Celebrating Dubai’s Unheard Voices

The goal of DXB Unheard is to uncover the lesser-known stories of Dubai and celebrate the unique individuals who contribute to its cultural and economic success. The series provides an intimate look at the lives of residents who have shaped the city through innovation, perseverance, and creativity.

Kate Garraway summed up the significance of the series by describing Dubai as a “tapestry of stories woven together.” She added, “DXB Unheard is our chance to unravel those threads and celebrate the extraordinary lives that intersect, uncovering stories that were previously unknown or unrecognized as part of Dubai’s rich narrative.”

Through the voices of inspiring individuals, DXB Unheard promises to bring a fresh perspective on what it truly means to live and thrive in Dubai. By highlighting personal journeys, achievements, and cultural influences, the series aims to offer a compelling and heartfelt portrayal of one of the world’s most fascinating cities.

As the episodes unfold, viewers can expect an immersive and eye-opening experience—one that challenges perceptions and shines a light on the people who make Dubai the vibrant, dynamic place it is today.
