‘Are you kidding?, Rob Gronkowski makes Travis Kelce retirement prediction as Chiefs star mulls over future

Kelce has openly admitted that he is considering retiring from the league after 12 years with the Chiefs.
He has cited making deep playoff runs year after year has started to take a toll on his body.
Kelce has one more year left on his contract with the Chiefs, but might not see it out.
However, fellow legendary tight end Rob Gronkowski doesn’t think Kelce should even be thinking about ending his career.
“I believe he can go another two years,” Gronk told Kay Adams.
“We’re talking about his stats being down – are you kidding me?
“How are your stats down if you have 80+ catches at 35 years of age.
“I think I’ve only had 80+ catches one time in my career and I was 22 years old.
“He’s the security blanket, he gets first downs whenever they need him to. If you watch him run routes, he’s very smooth and crisp with them.
“It’s just one of those years.”

Kelce had the worst statistical year of his career in 2024, with many categories being his lowest ever.
His 823 yards and three touchdowns were the worst marks he has ever produced.
Kelce is still one of the most important pieces of the Chiefs’ offense alongside Patrick Mahomes, but the band could be breaking up soon.
You can draw some similarities between Gronk and Tom Brady and Mahomes and Kelce, but Gronk thinks this retirement saga is a different story.
“Those two together [Mahomes and Kelce], they’re an unstoppable duo,” he said.

“It’s a different situation from Tom and I’s. Tom was a quarterback who was ten years older than me and I was the young buck.
“This is different because Travis is the one that’s so much older than Mahomes. And they have this chemistry that’s unbelievable – you really don’t see that a lot with a quarterback that’s much younger than a receiver or tight end.
“It’s great to see what Kelce and done with Mahomes and how Kelce has developed him. You have to give Travis credit for that big time”
Kelce has remained tight-lipped about a potential retirement, only speaking about it on the New Heights Podcast.
All he will reveal is that he is considering all options right now.
