Sarah Ferguson’s spokesperson has hit back at rumours of a “monumental snub” from Queen Camilla, following the loss of her Duchess of York title amidst a highly publicised scandal involving her former husband, Prince Andrew. In a week that saw Andrew surrender his own titles, including Duke of York, due to ongoing scrutiny over his connections with the late convicted sex offender, Jeffrey Epstein, his ex-wife, Sarah, has experienced a similar setback.

Unlike their daughters, Beatrice and Eugenie (who will both retain their princess titles), Sarah will no longer carry the Royal rank of duchess and will simply be referred to as Sarah Ferguson. It is also speculated that Andrew, who continues to “vigorously deny the accusations” levelled against him, will remain in the £30million Royal Lodge in Windsor Great Park, a residence he shares with his ex-wife. However, according to Ephraim Hardcastle of the Daily Mail, this isn’t the only Royal “snub” she has encountered.

He alleges that Sarah, who he suggests perceives herself as “quite the lady of letters”, was “rebuffed” by Queen Camilla after reportedly proposing a collaboration on her upcoming children’s book, Flora and Fern: Kindness Along The Way.

He penned: “Before being sacked as a Duchess, Sarah Ferguson suffered a monumental snub from Queen Camilla.”

The journalist stated: “Well-read Camilla founded her hugely successful online Reading Room in 2021 to promote literature and encourage reading. None of Sarah’s literary gems have ever appeared on the Queen’s recommended reading lists.

“With the imminent release of her latest, Flora and Fern: Kindness Along The Way, Fergie suggested a collaboration between her and Queen Camilla. Her proposal was firmly rebuffed.”

However, a spokesperson representing Sarah, speaking exclusively to Reach Plc, has denied any claims of a snub from Camilla, nor a proposed collaboration.

Sarah, who, according to Hello!, has sold “everything from fountain pens to food blenders”, has established a notable writing career over the years, authoring both romance novels and children’s books.

Flora and Fern: Kindness Along The Way is a picture book with a message of “kindness and community at its heart” that follows the adventures of the characters Flora and Fern, as reported by The Bookseller.

Meanwhile, further demonstrating the Queen’s dedication to literature, the official website for her Reading Room outlines how the project aims to “celebrate and promote the power and benefits of reading”.

It even includes comments from the Queen herself, explaining how books have “enriched” her life since she was a child, and Her Majesty acknowledges their “extraordinary power to educate and inspire”.

She is quoted as saying: “It has therefore been such a joy to watch my Reading Room grow over the years into a thriving book community.

“Now a charity, I hope that we, together with our partners, can foster in adults and children alike a lifelong love of literature and connect more people with that special magic that can only be found in the leaves of a book.”

The Express has reached out to Buckingham Palace for comment.
