Ricky Hatton’s Ex-Girlfriend Breaks Silence After His Tragic Death at 46

Former world champion Ricky Hatton has died at the age of 46.

Ricky Hatton’s ex-girlfriend, Chelsea Claire, has released a statement after the former boxer’s death.

It was confirmed on Sunday that former world champion boxer Hatton had died at the age of just 46.

During his career, the Stockport-born fighter held multiple world titles in the light-welterweight division, and also one at welterweight.

Back in 2005, The Ring magazine, the Boxing Writers’ Association of America and ESPN all named Hatton as Fighter of the Year.

Prior to his death, ‘The Hitman’ was scheduled to make a return to the ring against Eisa Al Dah in December.

On Sunday, a Greater Manchester Police spokesperson said: “Officers were called by a member of the public to attend Bowlacre Road, Hyde, Tameside, at 6:45am today where they found the body of a 46-year-old man. There are not currently believed to be any suspicious circumstances.”

Tributes have since flooded in for the former world title holder, including fellow boxers like Tyson Fury, Amir Khan and Anthony Joshua.

Hatton’s younger brother Matthew also took to X to issue his condolences.

He wrote: “I love you Richard. See you on the other side X.”

Hatton’s ex-girlfriend, Chelsea Claire, has also broken her silence. The pair dated back in 2023 after meeting in a Spanish nightclub.

Posting a picture of herself and Hatton, Claire wrote: “Heartbroken doesn’t begin to cover what myself and the rest of the world are feeling.

“You were an inspiration to many and I was lucky to call you my partner. You will be missed so much.”

Speaking to The Sun previously, Claire spoke about the pair’s break-up.

She said: “People said we were just a fling but I loved him. He told me he loved me. The 14-year age gap means nothing, but I don’t think he is ready to get married.

“Seeing him everywhere because of Dancing On Ice has definitely made the split harder.”
