Another brand new series of You Bet! is soon coming to ITV with host Stephen Mulhern at the helm. The gameshow sees ordinary people with extraordinary skills take on major challenges in front of an audience in different areas around the country as it goes on tour, but one fan has shared some behind-the-scenes secrets.
The series will consist of six full-length episodes and an additional Christmas special filmed in Cambridgeshire. Earlier this month, the 48-year-old TV presenter visited Liverpool’s waterfront at the Albert Dock for filming, where he was joined by guests comedian Johnny Vegas, Big Brother star Will Best, and Loose Women panellist Judi Love. Fans of the ITV show could apply for free tickets through Applause Store to go and see the show being recorded, with an added chance of meeting Stephen and his famous friends.

Express.co.uk caught up with someone who managed to secure a spot in the audience. They told us what Stephen was really like and what really goes on behind the scenes. “Stephen was lovely,” they shared.
“He made sure to go and greet every single audience member and allowed time for selfies and a quick chat. It seemed like he really cared about his fans and, despite a busy filming schedule, he still made time for everyone who showed up.
“Will Best and Judi Love also did the same, but poor Johnny was stuck in a little rubber dinghy in the water!”
The fan went on to explain that St Helens star Johnny was roped into the show’s challenge, which saw him being winched in towards a large docked boat. The ship’s captain had to pull him in quicker than the competitor could climb around the boat.
“There was one thing that did surprise me,” the audience member admitted. “As someone who is never on a TV set, I quickly learnt that there are some parts added in for dramatic effect. For example, the presenters were filmed giving several different reactions, as were the audience.

“We were asked to boo, to clap and to excitedly cheer but it was random and not while anything was actually happening. It seemed it was recorded so that editors could cut it and pop it in wherever they pleased.
“Stephen and the guests also cheered and shouted how close the challenge was when nothing was even happening. They were screaming ‘come on you can do it,’ but no one was doing anything! It left the audience a bit perplexed but then I realised it was a little bit fake.
“They also redid some shots to get them reacting in different ways to whatever was happening. In a way it took the excitement out of it, but it was still a really good day and I can’t wait to see how things are changed once it’s actually on TV.”
Speaking about the series, host Stephen said: “I’m absolutely thrilled that You Bet! is back – and this time we’re hitting the road! Each week I’ll be joined by a top celeb panel, as our challengers take on some brilliantly bonkers and amazing challenges. With the title of You Bet Champion on the line, it’s going to be unbelievable from the start.”
