CHARLOTTE HAWKINS was left red-faced by her Good Morning Britain co-stars on today’s edition of the show, after the news anchor made an awkward blunder with regards to what time it was, causing panic in the studio.

Charlotte Hawkins, 44, was joined by Susanna Reid, 48,and her co-host Ben Shephard, 45, to present today’s instalment of the news show. Due to the new ITV schedule, Good Morning Britain is on for an extra half an hour and to accommodate the longer programme, a news anchor reads the headlines for the first 30 minutes. However, it seemed Charlotte was a little confused this morning and although she thought she’d got away with the blunder, her co-stars called her out for it.

Joining the news anchor at 6:30am, the first matter on the agenda for the hosts was to correct their colleague about what time in the morning it was.

“I’m sorry, I’m really sorry,” Charlotte exclaimed, to which Ben told her to explain herself and own up to her mistake.

“I might have inadvertently said at quarter past six, that it was quarter past five and you know you think no-one will notice…” she continued, before Susanna interrupted her.

The host told her co-star who they’d been inundated with comments from viewers after she and her co-host corrected the presenter.

“I thought I had an extra hour in bed,” the host declared, to which Charlotte said: “Everyone was panicking.

“I would just like to say, I can tell the time,” she continued, before reading the correct time on the clock thanks to Susanna calling her out on the blunder.

“People thought they had more time,” the leading presenter said, adding: “There I was in my dressing room thinking I had more time, I’d got another hour to prepare.”

The news anchor apologised once again as she became more embarrassed over the error.

“That’s why we have a clock on the screen,” Susanna told her co-star, before going on to start the show.

Later on this morning’s show, the host had to defend her co-presenter Piers Morgan, 54, after a guest took aim at the star for not being on the show.

Following news of 20 passengers being tested positive for Coronavirus onboard a cruise ship off the coast of Yokohama, Susanna and Ben spoke with a couple who are in a 14 day quarantine.

After speaking with the pair, the host thanked David and Sally Abel for talking about their ordeal.

Ben told the couple to keep in touch and to update the show on what’s happening to them, to which David replied: “Lovely to talk to you and I’m so glad it wasn’t Piers.”

Susanna held her head in her hands as she was shocked by the guest’s comments.

Her co-host and the crew on the studio floor could be heard laughing at the remark as Piers is known for causing controversy on the show.

However, the presenter composed herself and defend the star in his absence.

“Do you know what, in real life, he’s actually a nice person,” the host explained as the couple continued to smirk.

“I’m saying it jestfully,” David told Susanna, before Ben rounded off the interview.

Taking to Twitter, viewers commented on the comical moment, with one posting: “Early morning shade thrown! So glad it wasn’t Piers #GMB #PiersMorgan #coronavirusjapan #coronavirus.”

Another added: “Give that man a reporting job, while on the ship.
