La Voix released a statement at the time, writing: “It is with immense sadness that I have to withdraw from this weekend’s Strictly Come Dancing shows in Blackpool.
“Due to an injury, I’ve been advised that I’m unable to perform, and my heart truly breaks knowing I won’t be dancing in such an iconic venue.
“Aljaž and I have worked incredibly hard, and we were so excited to share our routine with everyone.”
La Voix has now shared an update on the injury, writing: “Good morning my darlings.
“As I’m looking on social media and everyone is on their way to Blackpool, I am off for an MRI scan to see what is actually going on with my foot.
“I have a bone bruise, which is basically from the repetition of being in the heels and it’s on where my toe joins my foot.”
La Voix continued: “It’s like a deep bone bruise, which basically if I keep working on could become a stress fracture.
“Which obviously means a broken foot which is six to eight weeks off my foot in a boot.
“Which would be awful, so luckily they’ve caught it up before it has got to that stage.
“And as I said on It Takes Two to the physio team, the whole of the BBC Strictly team have been amazing.
“I’ve had MRIs, I’ve had X-rays, I’ve had physio, and that’s all carrying on today.
“So I’ve got my very attractive boot on and I’m basically just icing and keeping my foot elevated and resting as much as I can.”
La Voix said how gutted they are to not be dancing this week, and said they’re really hoping to dance in the
next show.
They thanked fans for all their messages and said they’ll keep fans updated with any news.
La Voix ended by saying: “It’s just a bit rubbish but speak to you all soon and thanks again for your messages. I’m cheering you on in Blackpool and have a fabulous time.”
Strictly also released a statement this week, saying: “Due to injury, La Voix has been advised by doctors to rest and, as a result, will not dance in this weekend’s Blackpool specials.
“In line with the rules of Strictly Come Dancing, La Voix and Aljaž will receive a bye through to next week when it is hoped they will be able to dance again.
“We wish La Voix the very best for a speedy recovery.”
La Voix isn’t the first celebrity to be struck down by injury in this series.
Dani Dyer had to quit before the first live show after fracturing her ankle during rehearsals.
Neighbours star Stefan Dennis was also left with no choice but to withdraw after a painful calf injury.
Last weekend saw Vicky Pattison and Kai Widdrington sent home following a tense dance off with Balvinder Sopal and Julian Caillon.
The drag queen will not be competing on the Blackpool edition of the BBC series due to injury
Strictly Come Dancing star La Voix has ‘clarified’ an injury claim she said was ‘circulating’ among fans as she said that she’s being left ‘struggling and in pain’ after pulling out of the iconic Blackpool week.
The drag queen, whose non-performer name is Chris Dennis, is the first drag star to compete on the main series of the dancing competition. Over the past two months, La Voix has been competing on the popular BBC programme with professional dancer Aljaz Skorjanec.
La Voix and Aljaz made it through to the annual edition of the show at Blackpool’s Tower Ballroom thanks to their Foxtrot to Cass Elliot’s Make Your Own Kind of Music, which received 29 out of 40 points on Saturday (November 15). The pair even managed to avoid the dreaded dance-off, which they’ve been in once against Harry Aikines-Aryeetey and Karen Hauer.
However, it was confirmed on Tuesday morning (November 18) that La Voix has picked up an injury and has been advised by doctors to rest, meaning she won’t dance on Saturday night (November 22). A Strictly spokesperson said: “In line with the rules of Strictly Come Dancing, La Voix and Aljaž will receive a bye through to next week when it is hoped they will be able to dance again. We wish La Voix the very best for a speedy recovery.”
Having her say on the injury, a devastated La Voix said at the time: “It is with immense sadness that I have to withdraw from this weekend’s Strictly Come Dancing shows in Blackpool. Due to an injury, I’ve been advised that I’m unable to perform, and my heart truly breaks knowing I won’t be dancing in such an iconic venue.
“Aljaž and I have worked incredibly hard, and we were so excited to share our routine with everyone. I am devastated not to be joining the rest of the cast on that famous dancefloor, but my focus now is on recovery. I’ll be cheering on all the amazing couples this weekend.”
In spite of not performing this weekend, La Voix, who appeared out of drag as Chris, and Aljaz appeared on Wednesday evening’s (November 19) edition of Strictly spin-off It Takes Two to speak to presenter Janette Manrara about the news. During the conversation, Chris responded to some claims that they were avoiding doing their previously announced Samba.
“I just want to clarify, some people online have said it’s only for me to get out of the Samba. I’d just to clarify, I was desperate to get to Blackpool and do the Samba. The production involved was going to be incredible,” he said.
According to Chris, who praised the show’s medical department, his injury issues have been going on since ‘the Foxtrot week’.
“Thiis has been ongoing since the Foxtrot week. I felt a little niggle in my foot, hence why there were some comments about me being flat footed in the famous heel turn. I thought ‘this will be fine’, it got gradually worse and worse.
“On Saturday, we had to change shoes and I couldn’t wear heels. I had to wear those awful shoes, La Voix in awful flat shoes… We tried on Monday to learn this week’s dance and it was clear I was struggling and in pain. We had to be professional and call it, get some rest,” he noted.

Aljaz added: “Blackpool without La Voix is a big mood dipper. It’s hard when Strictly ends for any couple, but this hasn’t ended for us. I feel like your connection to Blackpool, there’s so much that ties you back to it.
“Both of us, more than ever, every step we were doing with Couple’s Choice, I was thinking of that. La Voix standing in Blackpool where it all began for her. It was a beautiful full circle moment, and that’s what upsets me the most, more than anything.”
Teasing Aljaz that he’ll be watching him perform with special guest act Steps, Chris noted that he ‘might have honorary fish and chips for everyone in Blackpool’. When it comes to where La Voix is, Chris joked that she got ‘a wonderful Black Friday holiday deal’ and is having ‘tapas for ten days’ in Tenerife.
