Torvill & Dean to make final ITV documentary after Dancing On Ice axe
Legendary Olympians will be followed by cameras as they perform across the country, ending in their home-town of Nottingham for an emotional farewell in July

Jayne and Chris will bid a long goodbye to their fans across 34 UK shows
As Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean set about hanging up their skating boots for good, the cameras will follow them to capture every moment as they embark on their final tour, Our Last Dance.
ITV has confirmed an hour-long special which also explores their long careers, looking back on their professional highlights and following the skating duo as they prepare to say goodbye to their fans for the last time. Jayne and Chris have appeared on Dancing on Ice since it launched in 2009, but bosses recently announced that the series has been axed amid falling ratings
Viewers will follow the former Olympic and World champions throughout their final year as performers – from their preparations and last ever TV performance on Dancing on Ice; to the early gruelling training sessions and first rehearsals and on to the iconic first performance of the live tour at Wembley Arena and then throughout their shows across Britain.

The one-off documentary, Torvill & Dean: The Last Dance, will air later this year and give intimate insight into what it’s been like to live life as the UK’s greatest ever ice skaters, their 50-year relationship and their desire to leave a lasting legacy.
Jayne, 67, and Chris, 66, retired from competitive skating for good in 1998. They told the Mirror: “We’re delighted that our farewell tour will be the subject of an ITV documentary. The programme will be filled with poignant and joyful moments as we plan, rehearse and perform our final skating journey together – all caught on camera by a film crew following us over many months as we bid farewell to our 50 year ice skating partnership.
“It’s fitting that this documentary will be broadcast on ITV, our TV home for the last two decades. We hope fans will enjoy this final opportunity to see us skate together.”

Executive producer Lucy Cutler, of FilmNova, said to film with “two of British sport’s greatest ever Olympians”. She added: “Jayne and Chris have allowed our cameras unprecedented behind-the-scenes access to capture every moment as they strive to recreate some of their most memorable routines, supported by an ensemble cast of world class skaters.
“‘Perfection’ is a word often attributed to their iconic performances, and with good reason, but this film will also illustrate the painstaking path necessary to remain the very best, 50 years after it all began.” ITV entertainment director Katie Rawcliffe said that the show would give the pair a fitting send off. “We are thrilled to be continuing our long working relationship with Torvill and Dean as they embark on their most iconic tour to celebrate their astonishing life, both on and off the ice, a treat for their fans and the ITV audience.”
The 34-show farewell tour Our Last Dance opens tonight (FRI) at Wembley and travels around the UK until 12 July where they will skate together for the final time in their hometown of Nottingham – where it all began.
