King Charles returned to work this week following his recent health setback amid his cancer treatment.

Last week, the king had a brief stint in hospital due to experiencing “temporary side-effects” from his treatment for cancer, which is ongoing.

On Tuesday (April 1), King Charles, 76, was back to his duties as he presented honours to recognise incredible people at an Investiture at Windsor Castle.

Palace statement on king’s hospital stint

A statement read: “Following scheduled and ongoing medical treatment for cancer this morning,  the king experienced temporary side effects that required a short period of observation in hospital.

“His Majesty’s afternoon engagements were therefore postponed. His Majesty has now returned to Clarence House. As a precautionary measure, acting on medical advice, tomorrow’s diary programme will also be rescheduled.”

It added: “His Majesty would like to send his apologies to all those who may be inconvenienced or disappointed as a result.”

However, following a “restful” weekend at Highgrove, King Charles has returned to work. The monarch’s cancer diagnosis was announced last February.

Why the king hasn’t revealed the type of cancer he has

His diagnosis came after he underwent a procedure for an enlarged prostate.

At the time, it wasn’t revealed which type of cancer Charles has. However, it’s believed the king doesn’t have prostate cancer.

A source reportedly detailed why the monarch has chosen to keep the type of cancer he has private.

The insider claimed that “the king’s decision not to reveal the type of cancer was a conscious choice to be able to reach out to the widest number of people who are experiencing the disease, rather than narrow the focus onto a particular form of cancer”.
