Prince Harry’s secret ‘struggles’ of finding success now after leaving royal family with Meghan Markle
Prince Harry is reportedly struggling to forge his own path in California
More than five years after stepping away from royal duties, Prince Harry is still navigating life on the outside, but now, according to experts, it hasn’t all been smooth sailing.
While the Duke of Sussex, 40, appears settled in California with Meghan Markle and their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, insiders claim he’s still working to establish a fulfilling role for himself post-royal life.

Prince Harry’s ‘struggle’ now after leaving royal family
“I’m not sure if Harry has regrets about leaving, as he’s determined to build a new life in the US,” royal historian Marlene Koenig claimed to Us Weekly.
“But he hasn’t been entirely successful, especially in terms of earning money for the family. That seems to have fallen on Meghan.”
Since their 2020 royal exit, Harry has dabbled in numerous ventures. These have included his bestselling memoir Spare, the Netflix docuseries Harry & Meghan, and a role with mental fitness startup BetterUp.
But while Meghan has launched her lifestyle brand, As Ever, and projects like With Love, Meghan and Confessions of a Female Founder, Harry’s independent career path appears less defined.
Marlene noted that it has been a “struggle” for Harry to find his place in California.
“He was always expected to play a supportive but not a supporting role,” Marlene explained. “He may be comfortable in his California home with his wife and two adorable children. But what he hasn’t found yet is the comfort of a success outside at home.”

‘Any exile is bound to have regrets’
Royal commentator Amanda Matta agreed. She noted that Meghan seems “focused on her own ventures and identity outside the royal bubble”.
Meanwhile, Harry’s path is still evolving.
Although he reportedly doesn’t regret stepping away, Harry has expressed lingering sadness over the military roles and honours he was stripped of, as well as his estranged ties to family, especially with Prince William.
In an emotional interview with the BBC in May, Harry opened up about his desire to reconcile with his family.
“I would love reconciliation with my family,” the Duke of Sussex admitted. “There’s no point in continuing to fight anymore. Life is precious. I don’t know how much longer my father has.”
“Any exile is bound to have regrets,” said royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams. “Not seeing his friends and, as he has admitted, the breach with his family. Obviously, his life now couldn’t be more different than his existence as a royal.”
The rift between the once-close brothers has grown more apparent.
While William, 43, is preparing to become king, Harry is still working to shape a new legacy outside the institution he once called home.
“One brother has found his role and knows what he has to do to prepare for his future,” Marlene said. “The other brother has yet to find the right balance for a successful career away from what he was raised to be.”
Despite the challenges, Harry and Meghan continue to appear united.
Still, behind the scenes, experts suggest Harry’s journey toward purpose and success is very much ongoing.
