Prince Andrew gave up his remaining honours and titles due to his association with Jeffrey Epstein, but some argue that further action is necessary

Fiona Bruce was left momentarily stunned on Question Time when an audience member suggested that Prince Andrew should be exiled. Thursday’s (October 23) edition of the BBC programme featured the presenter alongside Labour’s Stephen Kinnock, Conservative MP Harriett Baldwin, broadcaster Mariella Frostrup, and former politician Nadine Dorries.”

The panel covered a wide range of topics, from the effectiveness of the one-in, one-out scheme, potential action regarding Prince Andrew, and the ongoing grooming gangs inquiry. Andrew relinquished his remaining royal titles and honours, including his Duke of York title, after new details emerged about his friendship with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. Fiona noted that the audience had many questions on the topic before directing her attention to one member. He asked: “Should Prince Andrew not be exiled for his crimes?”

A stunned Fiona clarified: “What, chucked out of the country all together?”

When the man responded with a firm “yes”, the baffled presenter asked: “Any idea where you think he should go?”

Several audience members muttered “Rwanda” as the room immediately erupted in laughter.

Prince Andrew made headlines again after reports emerged that he allegedly asked a bodyguard provided by the Metropolitan Police to dig up damaging information on Virginia Giuffre.

The Mail on Sunday reported obtaining an email that allegedly reveals Andrew instructing his bodyguard to investigate Ms Giuffre. The publication also claimed that Andrew provided the bodyguard with Ms. Giuffre’s date of birth and social security number.

In 2022, Andrew paid millions to settle a US civil sexual assault case brought by Ms. Giuffre, despite repeatedly denying ever having met her.

Ms Giuffre, who died by suicide aged 41 in April, claimed that she was forced to have sex with the prince on three occasions, including when she was 17, after being trafficked by Epstein.

He has firmly denied her allegations and claimed that the settlement does not constitute an admission of liability. Despite the ongoing scandal, he will be “impossible” to evict from Royal Lodge as he signed a 75-year lease to live at the 30-room mansion in 2003.

His ex-wife Sarah Ferguson, who will also no longer be known by her Duchess of York title, lives with Andrew at the property despite having been divorced since 1996.

Unless the agreed terms are broken, the York family can live in the mansion until June 2078.
