Meghan Markle’s mother Doria Ragland hits back at criticism of daughter in rare statement

Doria was not putting up with the negativity

Meghan Markle’s mother, Doria Ragland, has hit out at criticism against her daughter’s Netflix show in a rare public interview.

Over the years, Doria has been a pillar of support for Meghan. It seems that isn’t going to stop anytime soon.

When With Love, Meghan was released, it opened the gates for a lot of backlash. Usually, it would be ignored and everyone would continue as normal. But when the topic of negativity was brought up in a New York Times interview, Doria couldn’t help but be the defensive mum.

Meghan Markle mum Doria Ragland hits back at negativity against daughter

In the show, Meghan showed off her lavish lifestyle, which included stunning cooking kits from Le Creuset. But it was her use of the brand which many called her out for online.

Viewers were annoyed that Meghan was using it, with some bashing the company for being too expensive for some to afford. Meanwhile, others criticised it as being more ostentatious than a cast-iron pad.

However, other people were also annoyed when the criticism started and began posting pictures of their own Le Creuset items at home.

Meghan was unaware of this specific controversy, until it was brought to her attention during a New York Times interview, published this week.

Everyone is coming in hot these days.

While the 43-year-old duchess threw her arms up in the air, Meghan’s mum had a different reaction.

Doria, 68, simply hit back: “Everyone is coming in hot these days.”

Meghan also clapped back questioning: “This is a thing in 2025?”

But the mother-daughter duo were keen to change the topic, moving on to air fryers and blenders, trying to steer away from the negativity.

Over the last few months Meghan has faced a lot of criticism and controversy, mainly for her new business ventures.

Doria Ragland’s support for Meghan amid ongoing backlash

First Meghan had the premiere of her Netflix show – which has been renewed for a second season despite flop reviews. Then she announced her brand As Ever – which launched and sold out yesterday (April 2). Plus she has her ShopMy closet so that fans can purchase her style directly. On top of that, she announced her brand new podcast. So it’s clear the haters aren’t bringing her down.

As it’s been a busy few months for Meghan Markle, her mum has found herself publicly supporting her daughter more and more.

She was spotted in an Instagram clip shared by Meghan when she was preparing to launch As Ever.

In the short video, Meghan was making a dessert alongside Doria in her Montecito home, while Doria was enthusiastically tasting the dessert.

On top of that, Doria also featured in Meghan’s Netflix show, where she made an appearance at the garden party in the final episode.

At the party, she could be heard praising her daughter for growing her own greens. She said: “It’s lovely. Nice job!”

And it seems Doria’s influence was part of the reason Meghan loves to cook, which she explained on the Netflix show.

The duchess said: “I have a very high tolerance for spicy. I crave it. Even at a young age, we didn’t have a lot but we travelled. My mum was a travel agent. We would just try so many different flavours in so many different places.”
