Meghan Markle and her newly rebranded lifestyle brand, As Ever, have been making headlines for the subtle tribute it pays to her husband, Prince Harry.
Amid a swirl of ‘copying’ allegations surrounding the brand’s logo, new insights reveal that the crest holds deep personal significance, particularly in its nod to Harry.
This week, Meghan, 43, unveiled the As Ever brand through an Instagram video. She announced the name change from American Riviera Orchard and debuted a new website.
The landing page featured a cute photo of Meghan with her daughter, Princess Lilibet, alongside the now-controversial As Ever logo.

Meghan Markle’s As Ever logo could be a tribute to Prince Harry
The logo incorporates a palm tree and two hummingbirds, both of which hold symbolic value for Prince Harry.
“The logo incorporates a palm tree as a nod to the duke and duchess’s home in California, along with two hummingbirds – a favourite of Prince Harry’s,” an insider revealed to PEOPLE. “The distinct shape enclosing the birds and tree was intentionally designed to create a unique and personal emblem.”
Prince Harry, 40, explored the significance of hummingbirds in his 2023 memoir, Spare. He recounted a moment after his grandmother Queen Elizabeth II’s passing when a hummingbird flew into their California home.
Harry wrote: “Soon after our return, a hummingbird got into the house. A mate said: ‘Could be a sign, you know?’ Some cultures see hummingbirds as spirits, he said. Visitors, as it were. Aztecs thought them reincarnated warriors. Spanish explorers called them ‘resurrection birds.’”

The sighting struck him as more than coincidence, especially when the bird hovered over the playpen he affectionately calls “Lili Land” – named after Princess Lilibet.
“I thought hopefully, greedily, foolishly: Is our house a detour – or a destination?” Harry mused.
The palm tree in the logo is another meaningful reference.
In a 2022 interview with The Cut, Meghan revealed how, during their first tour of their Montecito estate, Harry was drawn to two palm trees in the garden.
“One of the first things my husband saw when we walked around the house was those two palm trees,” she shared. “See how they’re connected at the bottom? He goes, ‘My love, it’s us.’”
Their son, Prince Archie, even acknowledges the trees as a symbol of his parents, saying, “Hi, Momma. Hi, Papa,” as he passes them.

As Ever faces ‘copying’ accusations
Despite the thoughtfulness behind the logo, it has quickly faced criticism.
Social media users and design experts pointed out striking similarities to the coat of arms of Porreres, a village in Majorca, Spain, which also features a palm tree flanked by two birds.
The major of the town has even called out the similarities.
However, it’s understood that “comprehensive global searches of registered trademarks were conducted”.
Adding to the controversy, As Ever also shares its name with a small, family-run clothing store based in New York City.
The store’s owner, Mark Kolski, addressed the situation on Instagram. “We are aware. We are not affiliated,” he clarified.
Mark also voiced concerns about the power imbalance between his small business and Meghan’s brand.
“Even if I wanted to do something, I don’t think I have the behemoth of lawyers and money that are behind this,” he said in an interview with The Sun.
Meghan explains the reason for the rebrand
Despite the criticism, Meghan is focused on expanding her lifestyle empire. In her Instagram video, she explained the motivation behind the rebranding.
“As Ever essentially means as it’s always been,” She said. “And if you’ve followed me since 2014 with The Tig, you know I’ve always loved cooking, crafting, and gardening – this is what I do.”
She closed the video with a promise to fans: “I haven’t been able to share it with you in the same way for the past few years, but now I can. So as things are starting to trickle out there, I wanted you to hear it from me first.”
