Kell Brook’s comeback has been postponed once again just weeks before the event was due to take place.

The British boxing legend was due to go head-to-head with Eisa Al Dah on April 11 in Dubai in tribute of the late Ricky Hatton – who passed away back in September. However, organisers of the event have been forced to push the showcase back following the ongoing conflict in the Middle East.

America’s and Israel’s conflict with Iran is showing little sign of easing. As a result, Agenda Dubai have confirmed the boxing card will now be moved to Manchester and will likely take place towards the back end of the summer.

A press release from the promotion revealed that the decision was made due to the current travel restrictions in the United Arab Emirates. On Monday, Emirates said it cancelled some flights after a fire broke out near Dubai’s airport when a drone struck a fuel tank.

Following the news, Agenda Dubai founder, Martin P. Gravestock, said in a statement: “Dubai remains an outstanding international host city. However, if the fighters cannot come to Dubai, then we’ll bring the fight to Manchester- to Ricky’s home.” The card was due to be headlined by Hatton and Al Dah, but was scrapped following the death of the former two-weight world champion.

Brook decided to show his true colours by stepping up to face Al Dah in memory of Hatton. The Sheffield native, 39, has not fought in the ring since his victory over Amir Khan in February 2022. All proceeds from the event are set to go towards the Ricky Hatton Foundation – a charity which provides support for those battling mental illness.

“The fight means everything to me,” said Al Dah. “After the sad loss of Ricky, and with Kell Brook stepping in to replace him, I will continue to honour Ricky’s legacy. Now I have the opportunity to do that in his hometown – his own backyard.”

The upcoming card sees Hatton’s son Campbell come out of retirement and will take part in an exhibition contest. Campbell decided to walk away from the sport of boxing two years ago with a professional record of 14-2 following back-to-back defeats to James Flint. Also set to feature on the billing, dubbed ‘Destiny In the Desert,’ are the ‘Hitman’s’ nephew and niece, Jack and Lola.
