Rod Stewart gave fans more than just hit songs during his Glastonbury Legends set — he also delivered a touching nod to his wife Penny Lancaster.
Taking to the Pyramid Stage on a sweltering Sunday, the 80-year-old music icon rolled through a catalogue of classics and surprise covers. But it was an early moment in the show that left sentimental fans misty-eyed. While performing The First Cut Is The Deepest, Rod subtly pointed off-stage and smiled during the lyric: “I still want you by my side” — a clear, quiet tribute to Penny, his wife of 18 years.
Penny, 54, had earlier been spotted mingling with fans, many of whom were wearing Rod-inspired wigs as a show of affection for the rock legend.
The performance wasn’t without its hiccups. Rod mistakenly introduced Lulu before her cue, leading to an awkward moment before clarifying she’d come on later. When she finally did, the duo delivered a fiery rendition of Hot Legs, with Lulu dazzling in a white suit.

Rod was also joined by music giants Ronnie Wood and Mick Hucknall, and paid a touching tribute to the late Christine McVie of Fleetwood Mac, projecting her image on the big screen while covering one of her iconic tracks.

Battling through the heat, Rod made three costume changes — from a black jacket to a pink suit, then ending in a Celtic green outfit, proving he’s still every bit the showman.
Even a slightly mistimed entry on Maggie May couldn’t dampen the crowd’s enthusiasm, as fans belted out the song in unison, turning a blip into a moment of unity.
Rod may be 80, but at Glastonbury, he proved once again: the legend lives on — and love never fades.
