Mayweather appeared on Fox Business to talk about US president Trump, where he made a stunning claim.
He called Trump, who won the 2024 presidential election, the ‘best president’ in the history of the United States.

Mayweather said: “We had Trump before, we didn’t appreciate him. I think Trump is a great president, actually he’s the best president in my eyes, he’s the best president we’ve ever had. Great business man and that’s what it’s about.
“Trump has done an amazing job and a lot of people around America are upset,” he added. “But no matter who goes into the White House, we’re always upset. And I think Trump is the man for the job, he’s the best president in my eyes.”
Needless to say, Mayweather’s claim about Trump sent social media wild as his view divided opinion.
One X user wrote: “Regardless of your political affiliation, do you not find it weird that they platform the views of celebrities and combat athletes? These people are inherently out of touch, both ways.”

Mayweather attended Trump’s first inauguration as president and supported him throughout 2017.
He defended the American politician after he made vulgar comments about women in 2005.
The former pound-for-pound boxing star said that Trump ‘didn’t do nothing’.
“Real men speak like: ‘Man, she had a fat ass. You see her ass? I had to squeeze her ass?'” He said. “So, he’s talking locker-room talk. Locker-room talk.”
Mayweather has since had a more low-key profile on his political beliefs.
