Loose Women star Carol McGiffin has revealed she decided to have a second abortion when she was 38.

The 60-year-old explained she got pregnant after a one night stand and knew the right decision was to have a termination
Speaking to her co stars, she said she refused to feel ashamed because she knew she would not be able to give the child the appropriate care.

Carol said she knew from a young age that she did not want children especially after watching her mother struggle with a big family.

“I did get pregnant twice and had two terminations, I’m not ashamed of that,” she said via video link on Thurday’s show.

“Some people might disagree that that’s a good idea, but I was 38 when I had the second one.
“It was a very, very simple decision for me to make and it was very easy.
“It was a one-night stand, believe it or not, at 38 – yeah, I took a long time to grow up!

“I don’t want to be in a place where I have children and I have to look after them, I have to look after and i have to devote my life to them.
“That might sound selfish, but I think it’s more selfish to have a child and then not look after it. I never wanted one, i just never ever thought that that would be part of my life.”

Carol has been married twice, first to radio presenter Chris Evans from 1991-1998, and then two years ago she married 37-year-old Mark Cassidy in Thailand.
