Meghan Markle denies using HRH title after ‘breaking’ agreement she made with late Queen
Meghan and Harry agreed to stop using their HRH titles in 2020
Representatives for Meghan Markle have firmly denied that the Duchess of Sussex continues to use the title Her Royal Highness (HRH) following her and Prince Harry’s departure from royal duties in 2020.
This comes after eagle-eyed royal fans spotted a gift card that Meghan had sent to her friend and entrepreneur Jamie Kern Lima, which included the HRH title.
The card was attached to a gift basket that Meghan once sent to Jamie’s home, featuring homemade strawberry sauce and ice cream. It was shown during Meghan’s recent podcast interview with Jamie.

Does Meghan have a HRH title?
When Meghan and Harry stepped back from being senior working royals, they agreed with his grandmother Queen Elizabeth II that they would no longer use their HRH titles. However, they were allowed to continue to use their Sussex titles.
In 2020, Buckingham Palace said in a statement: “The Sussexes will not use their HRH titles as they are no longer working members of the royal family.”
However, during the recent podcast appearance, Meghan’s gift to Jamie was shown and the HRH title was used on the note. It read: “With Compliments of HRH The Duchess of Sussex.”
However, now, a spokesperson for the Sussexes has denied claims that the couple still use their HRH titles.

Is Meghan Markle an official princess?
Meghan is technically a princess by marriage to Prince Harry. However, she’s not referred to officially as Princess Meghan. According to royal protocol, only those born into the royal family can be officially known as princess.
Who has the title HRH in the royal family?
HRH refers to the title of “His or Her Royal Highness”.
Royals who currently hold HRH titles include Princess Anne, Prince William, Kate Middleton, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.
The Sussexes will not use their HRH titles as they are no longer working members of the royal family.
Prince Edward and wife Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh, also hold HRH titles. King Charles’ nieces Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie also have them.

Meghan Markle’s podcast interview revelations
Elsewhere in the interview, Meghan also reflected on the new chapter she is enjoying with Harry.
She described their life now as feeling like a “honeymoon period”.
Recalling the intense early days of their relationship, Meghan shared: “You have to imagine at the beginning, everyone has, like, butterflies. Then we immediately went into the trenches together. Yeah, right out of the gate, like six months into dating.”
The duke and duchess began dating in 2016, married in 2018, and initially took on full-time royal roles. However, mounting media pressures and alleged internal tensions eventually led to their decision to step back from royal life in 2020.
This has strained their relationships with King Charles and Prince William.
Now, with distance from royal obligations, Meghan said: “Seven years later, when you have a little bit of breathing space, you can just enjoy each other in a new way. That’s why I feel like it’s more of a honeymoon period for us now.”

Meanwhile, the duchess has also been busy carving out her own entrepreneurial path. Meghan recently launched her lifestyle brand, As Ever.
The brand’s first batch of products – including raspberry spread, flower sprinkles, and herbal tea – sold out rapidly.
However, Meghan’s Netflix lifestyle series, With Love, Meghan, received mixed to negative critical reviews upon release.
In addition, she has launched a new podcast series, Confessions of a Female Founder. The podcast gives an intimate look at the challenges faced by women entrepreneurs.
