Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s apology to ‘upset’ Prince William and Kate Middleton over Easter ‘snub’
The brothers remain distant with each other
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle once issued an apology to Prince William and Kate Middleton over an Easter ‘snub’.
Since they left their royal duties back in 2020, Prince Harry and Meghan have been very open about their frayed relationship with other members of the family. Through interviews, documentaries, and book deals, they haven’t hid away from telling their version of events.
But there was a brief time before all the drama where they got along, although it may have been short lived. Prince Harry, 40, himself recalled a time he and Meghan, 44, were surprised by the feud.

Prince Harry and William Easter ‘rift’
In his 2023 memoir, Spare, Harry spoke about a disagreement with William and Kate over their Easter plans – which he and Meghan didn’t realise.
In June 2018, Harry and Meghan headed to Nottingham Cottage for tea with Kate and William. The reason for the meeting was to work out why Kate and Meghan “got off on the wrong foot”.
Harry explained the start was full of “classic small talk”, before the tension was addressed.
He wrote: “Meg then acknowledged the tension among the four of us. And ventured that it might go back to those early days when she first joined the family – a misunderstanding that had almost passed without notice. Kate thought Meg had wanted her fashion contacts. But Meg had her own.
Willy and Kate were apparently upset that we hadn’t given them Easter presents.
“They had gotten off on the wrong foot perhaps? And then, Meg added, everything got magnified by the wedding, and those infernal bridesmaids’ dresses.”
However, this was not the case. Apparently, there was an entirely different issue causing the rift. It was down the fact Harry and Meghan had not brought Easter gifts to them earlier that year.
Harry wrote: “But it turned out there were other things… about which we had been unaware. Willy and Kate were apparently upset that we hadn’t given them Easter presents.

Harry and Meghan Markle apologised to William and Kate over Easter presents
“Easter presents? Was that a thing? Willy and I had never exchanged Easter presents. Pa always made a big deal about Easter, sure. But that was Pa. Still, if Willy and Kate were upset, we apologised.”
However, Harry went on to share his confusion over their anger, admitting that there were things he and Meghan weren’t happy about either.
He continued: “For our part, we chipped in that we weren’t pleased when Willy and Kate switched place cards and changed seats at our wedding. We had followed the American tradition, placing couples next to each other. But Willy and Kate didn’t like that tradition. Their table was the only one where spouses were apart.”
While the Easter gifts may have been a point of arguing between the royals, it didn’t stop there. The years since, they still haven’t managed to repair their relationship. Sadly, it’s on very rare occasions that they even see each other now.
