Tess Daly’s real name was officially announced as she received her MBE from King Charles at Windsor Castle.

TV presenter Tess Daly received her MBE from the King today at Windsor Castle. The 56-year-old, along with her Strictly Come Dancing co-host Claudia Winkleman, was honoured with MBEs in the King’s Birthday Honours for their contributions to broadcasting. This comes after Daly and Winkleman announced last month that they will be stepping down from the show, having presented it together since 2014.
Tess was seen looking thrilled as she accepted her MBE from King Charles as she opted for an all-red ensemble with a matching red hat and fascinator. Her rarely used real name was also announced during the special moment, as King Charles honoured Miss Helen Daly, from Beaconsfield.
The pair were seen smiling and laughing with each other as they shook hands, as they know each other well from work she has done for the Princes Trust. Her husband Vernon could be seen in the background looking proud along with their two daughters, Phoebe and Amber.

Upon hearing the news earlier this year, Vernon was quick to congratulate his wife, as hea also praised Winkleman and the Strictly team for “consistently producing the best show every year”.
Posting a series of photographs on Instagram, Kay said: “Well what can we say!!! Congratulations @tessdaly on your MBE. All the hard work and huge effort you put into everything you do has been recognised by the King.
“Being on Strictly from the start when our babies weren’t even born just proves how well you’ve done. Now they’re almost 21 and 16 and we’ve all enjoyed this journey together!!
“Also, bravo everyone at @bbcstrictly and @claudiawinkle for consistently producing the best show every year!! Time to pop a cork me thinks…”
Tess revealed she burst into tears when she received the letter confirming she had been given an MBE. She said: “I cried when I opened the letter, because I just I couldn’t believe it.
“I genuinely couldn’t, and the first thing I wanted to do was tell my dad, because I lost my dad many years ago, and I know how proud my dad would have been, and I would love to have shared that news with him more than anything.
“He would have been incredibly proud in a very Northern, humble fashion. Because you’re under strict instructions, of course, not to share the news before it’s made public. But I must admit, I did tell immediate members of my family and swore them to secrecy.”
