REPORT: Details Emerge On How Jerry Jones Completely Screwed The Cowboys With Pointless Mistake

Dallas Cowboys fans have grown accustomed to owner Jerry Jones sabotaging his team with mind-numbing mistakes, but the way he handled the departure of Mike McCarthy was truly another level of incompetence.
It wasn’t until eight days after the regular season concluded that Jerry Jones finally decided to part ways with McCarthy, who finished out his five-year contract. The Chicago Bears and New Orleans Saints have already been linked to McCarthy, now free to speak with other teams.
Speaking on “The Pat McAfee Show” today, ESPN’s Adam Schefter explained how Jones hurt the Cowboys by prolonging the decision to finally move on from McCarthy, citing that he’s now missed out on several hot HC candidates:
“Mike Vrabel…I think Dallas might have been an option for him if he were a coaching free agent…but he’s not…And there’s one fewer option, one fewer coach, for the Dallas Cowboys to think about. You missed out on a window to talk to some of these coaches like Ben Johnson and Aaron Glenn. If you want to talk to them, you can’t do that now.
It’s indeed difficult to comprehend Jerry Jones’ thinking process here. There was hardly a case to retain McCarthy following a 7-10 season, not to mention that Dallas only won a single playoff game during his five-year tenure as their head coach.

But sure enough, Jones’ incompetence got the best of him. He did not need a full eight days to decide if McCarthy was worthy of a new contract, but here we are.
Jerry Jones Better Have A Good Offseason
Don’t forget that we’re approaching the one-year anniversary of Jones stating that his Cowboys would have an “all-in” approach to the 2024 offseason. And going all-in apparently meant making zero blockbuster trades or notable free agent signings.
Not only is the pressure on Jones to ace his next head coach hire, but he sure as heck better put the work in to improve a flawed roster. The Cowboys need significant upgrades in the offensive line, more wide receiving help for CeeDee Lamb and more playmakers across the defense.
